The data were the attention getter given by the teacher and the responses of the students to the attention getter. The form of the attention-getter (verbal and non-verbal) was categorized based on Snyder (1998), the rules of an attention-getter (whether the teacher includes the attention-getter in the classroom rules) were categorized based on Stelma & Onat-Stelma ( 2010). None of the pre-service teachers used a variety of attention getters in one class meeting.

  • Indicate that an error has been made and correct it
  • Ask the students to make self repairs
  • Indicate that an error has been made and get other students to correct it
  • Repeat students’ response with changes

Getting other students to correct the error is recovery strategies that were also used by all lecturers in literature lectures. Based on the findings, the lecturers used four types of repair strategies, such as indicating that a mistake was made and correcting it, asking students to self-correct, indicating that a mistake was made and to get other students to correct it, and to repeat students. ' answers with changes. The findings showed that the lecturers used four types of repair strategies, namely indicating that a mistake was made and correcting it, asking students to do self-correction, indicating that a mistake was made and to get other students to correct it, and to repeat students' answers. with changes.

Pronunciation Error on English Diphthongs Made by EFL Students

Desy Riana Pratiwi 1 , Lia Maulia Indrayani 2

In this regard, the accuracy of pronunciation becomes important for the listener to correctly understand the purpose of the conversation. In phonetics, diphthong letters are represented by the first two letters, which indicate the initial position, the second indicates the position of movement. Students who still have errors in the pronunciation of the first data are due to the fact that when pronouncing words, the position of the tongue and their accent in the mother tongue affect the way they pronounce words.

Have students pronounce diphthongs in semi-front position, closing half-diphthongs, and tongue position starting from vocal position instead of full-lid diphthongs. It begins with the front of the back (central part) of the tongue slightly raised for the first element of the diphthong [aʊ]. This happened because the pronunciation of this type of diphthong can be pronounced in any position of the tongue.

They occur because they do not pronounce words with a low front central diphthong and the position of the tongue is not in a closed position but in an open position with a high front central diphthong. In this diphthong, four students made mistakes in pronouncing /sʊər/, /tʊər/, /pʊər/ due to the non-high position of the tongue, and then the tongue starts in the English diphthong in the form [ʊ ] position rather than near [ u:]; then slides sideways towards the central vowel [ə]. When pronouncing diphthongs, the position of the tongue affects the pronunciation and the sound result.

Comparison of Declarative-Interrogative Intonation in Lampungnese

Redika Cindra Reranta

  • Experiment and perception test on H2

In the test, all data was played one by one without any explanation about each type and context. Then the difference was analyzed using Praat to find the most influential component in the formation of interrogative sentences. Then the pitch decreases at the end of the contour or at the final sound that touches 10.25.

From the acoustic characteristic, it can be seen that the type of declarative contour is inclination, the tonal range of the contour is 6.25, and the top is the final component of the subject. After that, the height of the pitch rises to 23.84 on the initial constituents of the verb. Based on the acoustic characteristic, it can be determined that this type is Lampungnese interrogative contour declension, the tonal range is the 12th, and the final constituent of the subject is the peak.

The first similarity, the tonal peaks are found in the final constituents of the object. Then, raising the tone of the 1st in the constituent of the final specimen affects the meaning and perceptions. These results showed that the tone of the final subject constituent affects sentence mode suprasegmentally.

Moreover, the perceptual test experiment proves that the final constituent of the subject is the prosodic point that significantly affects the meaning and perception.

Construction of Public Opinion in Online News on the Issue of Nurses’ Expulsion from Boarding House

A Critical Discourse Analysis

Octavia Chandra Dewi 1 , Rosaria Mita Amalia 2

News Text Analysis

When the headline is read at first glance, one might assume that the midwife is the only person to blame. Most people in society are aware of this role of health workers as the heroes who stand on the front line to fight the coronavirus. As the audience reads the news initially presented by the headline, it will be stimulated by its knowledge to judge the midwife without seeing any reason that may be the background of the midwife to make the decision.

The first example can be seen from the title of the news that first caught readers' attention. All this information and the picture of the situation is presented to the public through the text and constructs public opinions: in the situation after the Covid-19 outbreak, health workers (such as doctors and nurses) become heroes. Meanwhile, the midwife herself is a health worker, so she was supposed to know the difficult situation of the three nurses in this pandemic outbreak.

This statement by the governor was further emphasized by the nurses' explanation, which also explained the chronology of events. He also asked about our condition and asked for the landlady's number and the number of the hospital director.). By this explanation, the nurses as one of the social actors in this issue transformed from victims to social actors who have 'power' after being 'saved' by the governor, so that their statement contributes to the construction of the public's opinions about , that they were victims in this case.

The media contributes fully to the construction of public opinions by emphasizing certain words to their cognition in the news presented, such as: guberan / Ganjar (governor / Ganjar), mengusir / diusir / pengusiran (evicted / expelled / eviction), menegur (admonish), bidan (midwife), veres (nurses), covid-19.

Public Comments Analysis

What also made the landlady an "enemy" was that she tried to save her family from the possibility of infection, without considering her status as a midwife, a profession that belongs to health workers. because they judge because of the construction of public opinion about it. ada bidan yang nyuruh pindah yg tiap hari bersinggungan dengan covid 19 kok sake marah2.” . The negative (-) comment connects the governor's action in the present issue with the governor's previous instruction for handling the case of the covid-19 pandemic. Most of the negative comments from commentators called for the cancellation of the midwife's certificate, except for inappropriate comments (in the form of profanity), which cannot be shown in this study.

However, the number of inappropriate comments is half of the total number of negative comments. By observing the two sample comments above about the grandmother, it is clear that the negative comments only "attacked" the grandmother as an object without identifying the underlying cause of the behavior. The positive comments, meanwhile, only tried to see other possible reasons for the grandmother for this, without directly encouraging her with something like, “It's okay, grandma.

As victims of the eviction, there were no negative comments from the commentators about the three nurses. Like the health workers fighting on the front lines. against the covid-19 pandemic, most members of the society still respect them. In the public comment section, there are no comments given directly to pikiran-rakyat.com as the online media presenter of the issue to the public.

As explained before, the media is superior to all the social actors involved in the issue presented in the news, as it has the power to present the information and the situation through words created based on his interest in constructing public opinion. Covid-19 pandemic has changed people's habit and attitude.

Representation of Korean Values Sustainability in American Remake Movies

Muhammad Fithratullah

The film is considered part of a mass culture shaped by society's needs and will. One of the most remakes and newer movies from the American industry are the Korean movies. These values are represented and transferred smoothly from the original film to the remake versions of the film.

Two Korean family values stand because they are universal values and the needs of history. The persistence of values in the film remaking process lies in the similarities between Korean and American values. It is considered universal value because of the needs of storytelling in creating something believable for the audience.

These three religions are considered the "legs of the three-legged stool" because of their influence on daily practices (Hoobler, 2009). Due to the similar meaning of the colors, it is acceptable to use the same colors in the original and the converted film. Koreans still believe in such divine power, fate and destiny. The main ideas about keeping Korean values in remake versions is firstly because it is widely accepted.

An analysis of culture shock from west to east as seen in Reilly's The Tournament.
