Judul Skripsi: Improving the students' writing ability through point, illustration and explanation PIE Model A Classroom Action Research at Class XI of MA. Improving the students' writing ability through point, illustration and explanation model in the second degree students of MA. This research aimed to explain the improvement of the students' writing grammar and the students' writing vocabulary through the van PIE model in the teaching of writing.

By implementing the PIE model in teaching writing, students had the opportunity to be active and engaged in learning to write, so that students' written grammar and vocabulary achievement in writing improved significantly. This was evident from the results of the students' activities during the campaign and the students. However, the result was not significant compared to the result that was expected based on the background, i.e. 6.5, so the research was continued in II. cycle and the average score of students' written achievement II.

The above result was obtained from the writing skills of the students in terms of writing grammar and vocabulary.

So, the researcher will use a strategy that can improve the student's writing ability in English. In the process of doing English language learning, writers often find students in the upper secondary school to MA. Because of these problems, students' score in English writing is very low. In fact, the understanding of writing in this class is far from the ideal circumstances that students would have, or at least should have.

In fact, the understanding of writing in this class is far from the ideal circumstances they had or still below the understanding that at least the students should have. This fact made it quite difficult to achieve a basic-competency-as-is-in-the-curriculum.-Based on the description above, the researcher will do research under the title "Improving students' writing ability through point". , Illustration, Explanation (P.I.E.) Model”. In relation to the research statement mentioned above, the general purpose of this research is to find out the improvement of students' writing skills.

It specifically aims to improve the students' writing ability through the PIE method in terms of grammar and vocabulary.

REVIEW OF THE RELATED LITERATURE

Concept of Writing

Byrne in Satriana (2010:11) states that writing is clearly more than predicting sounds. Byrne in RenyIndrayanty (2010:10) argues that writing is clearly much more than the production of a graphic symbol; just as speech is more than making sounds. English GBPP of SMU and Rahmatan (2010: 9) emphasize that writing is a language skill which is a kind of communication activity to develop the student's ability to communicate in English in a globalized area.

From the argument above, it is clear that writing is man's way of communicating and expressing their idea or encoding of a message through the graphic symbol. Writing is a tool for discovery, we stimulate our thought process through the act of writing and take in information and image that we have our unconscious mind. The content of writing is about the ability to think creatively and develop thoughts, excluding all irrelevant information.

It will be difficult for someone with a lack of vocabulary to compose what he or she is going to express, but appropriate words will help writers write. Therefore, the writer in question must organize the vocabulary and improve the writing skills of the student.

Concept of Paragraph

The PIE is used to measure a student's writing ability in terms of descriptive reflection. The findings of the research revealed that the use of PIE model can improve the writing ability of class XI students at MA Wihdatul Ulum Gowa. The table above shows that the improvement in students' written grammar after acting through the PIE model is greater than before.

It also shows that the improvement of students' scores in cycle II is higher than cycle I. The table above indicates that the improvement of students' writing vocabulary in cycle II is greater than cycle I. The use of the PIE model to improve Students' writing ability deals with grammar and vocabulary.

This proves the improvement of students' writing ability from I. to II. The findings of the research showed that the student's writing skill under the PIE model showed an improvement in grammar and vocabulary. Using the PIE model can improve the written grammar of second-year master's students.

The use of the PIE model is able to improve the written vocabulary of students in the second year of their master's studies.

Research Procedure

Understanding the school's curriculum and analyzed it to know basic skills and apply to students according to PIE model. To make lesson planning based on the curriculum, and prepared material of lesson planning, and it should be based on teaching writing skills. The teacher gave some different topics based on the teaching material (weekend) to each student.

The teacher asked the students to write a descriptive paragraph based on their topics by applying the PIE model. Students should make a point, state their opinion or position to support their writing. The researcher used the same method but different materials for the second, third and last meeting in cycle I.

Record all student activities in each session so the researcher can measure student skill improvement. Identifying and recording all the problems we need in the teaching and learning process on the basis of an observation paper that is arranged. Conducting an evaluation that based on the results of the study knew how far their improvement was.

Reflection aims to see the result of the first cycle action process, to analyze and finish the activity of the first cycle. Then the teacher decided to make the next plan (replanning)/continued the research for the next cycle to get the better result.

The explanation above explains that when the researcher performed action in Cycle II, the average score of the students improved from 4.19 to 7.52. The observation in cycles I and II, where the teacher records all the activities of the students in each meeting, so that the teacher can measure the improvement of the students' writing skills in terms of content, vocabulary, vocabulary, grammar and mechanics.

After exceeding several processes in cycle I and cycle II, which consisted of eight meetings, the result of the data analysis through the writing test showed that the students' writing ability in terms of grammar and vocabulary improved significantly. It was also lower than the average score for the students' writing test in Cycle I which is 5.14 and Cycle II which is 7.94. The use of PIE can significantly improve the students' writing ability in terms of grammar and vocabulary of the 2nd year MA students.

In order to improve the students' writing ability in general, there are many cases that need to be improved, such as: writing grammar and vocabulary, how to produce writing, etc. But it is better to use this method to know the students' writing ability improvement with different discussions. Improving the students' writing ability by using grouping technique (A Classroom Action Research in the X-3 class students of SMU Negeri 1 Pallangga.Thesisi.

The teacher explains to the students about PIE and how to use PIE to create a descriptive text. The teacher gave an example of topics based on the teaching material to the students. (second meeting). The teacher gave a topic base on the teaching material (cake, love, your home) to the students.

The teacher asked the students to write a descriptive paragraph based on their topics using the PIE method. Students had to make a point, express their opinion or position to support their writing.

CONCLUSION AND SUGGESTION

Suggestion

Have students try writing individually or in groups as it can encourage them to write more and get more ideas. Students should incorporate English into everyday language in their activities, even if they only write little by little. Students should also remember to memorize many English everyday expressions to help them write in their paragraph.
