Objective of The Research

Significance of The Research

The useful distribution game can be used as an alternative strategy that students can do to make them active in writing in English. Pedagogically, the result of this study will provide some advantages for further research, a reference and empirical evidence.

Definition Of Key Terms

Practically, the research findings will give certain benefits to the English teachers and efforts to develop teaching learning strategy in the school. This study can also be conducted to help educators at every level even subject of study to find a good strategy in teaching writing.

The Definition of Writing

Writing really began a long time ago, for most of its history it has remained a minority occupation, because although most human beings grow up speaking their first language and sometimes their second or third, of course , writing must be learned. Spoken language, for a child, is acquired naturally due to exposure to it, while the ability to write must be learned consciously. 3.

Characteristics of Written Text

The writer must learn how to remove redundancy, how to combine sentences, how to refer to other elements in a text, how to create syntactic and lexical variation, and much more.

Types of Writing

The type of writing that students will do depends on their age, interest, and level. When we set an assignment for primary school students, we want to make sure that the students get enough words to do it and also for intermediate and advanced students.

Writing Purpose

There is no limit to the type of text we can ask students to write. Our decision will be based on how much language the students know, what their interests are, and what we think will not only be useful for them, but will also motivate them.

The Importance of Writing

Writing Process

In the drafting stage, writers focus on fluency and are not preoccupied with grammatical accuracy or draft cleanliness. This first entry into a text is often made with the assumption that it will be changed later. As the writing process continues in editing, a number of drafts may be produced en route to the final version.10.

They re-examine what was written to see how effectively they conveyed their meanings to the reader. This is done to improve global content and the organization of ideas so that the author's intention is made clearer to the reader. 11. On the other hand, they need to know how to write using standard conventions of spelling, grammar and punctuation.

Understanding Paragraph

The relationship between ideas is clearly shown by using the appropriate transition word, such as however, although, ultimately, and however.13.

  • Descriptive Text

Descriptive text provides a lot of information about specific people, things and places in a clear and detailed manner. 16. Students should master the generic structure of a descriptive text before writing a descriptive text. The structure of a descriptive text follows certain stages, the beginning, the middle and the last part of the text.

Besides having social function and generic structure, descriptive text also uses significant lexicogrammatical features that support the form of a descriptive. As previously mentioned, the purpose of descriptive text is to describe a particular person, thing or place. Figurative language means descriptive text often uses figurative language such as smile or metaphor as a way of giving illustration of comparison, for example, my throat is like a dessert; her skin is white as cloud and smooth as water.

While the useful distribution game is an exercise that can be used in teaching descriptive text writing. The following section describes the teacher's procedures for teaching descriptive text using the useful distribution game by Natalie Hess (1991). Previous studies have been conducted by several researchers regarding the use of healthy distribution play.

The second previous study is by Novi (2013) with the title "Improving students' skill in writing descriptive text using useful distribution game of second grade students of MTs Miftahul Falah Talun Kayen Pati". The last previous study is by Meilani (2015) titled "Effect of Healthy Distribution Game on Students". In conclusion, it is acceptable that the game of healthy distribution gave a significant effect on the achievement of students in writing descriptive text.

In this classroom action research, the researcher intends to conduct two cycles through a healthy diffusion game in teaching descriptive text writing. Then the teacher asked the students to write a descriptive text based on their imagination. The teacher, acting as an actor, explains the descriptive text, and then the teacher asks three students to come forward and write key words on the blackboard.

At the end, the teacher gives an assessment test to the students' interest during the learning process and by reflecting on the result of the first cycle to make a plan for the next cycle. After the teacher gives the single words, she asks all the students to write descriptive text using those single words (in groups); in this part each group must complete the assessment in 25 minutes.

How the teacher carries out the material, which teacher will set up the classroom and also the students' response. It can also be used to assess students' motivation during the teaching learning process, to see their difficulties, their problem and their understanding of the material given. The aspects that were observed were the students' attendance, the students actively asking the teacher questions, the students actively answering the questions, the students actively performing the task by the teacher, the students. A test is a set of questions used to measure the knowledge, skills, intelligence and talent of an individual of a group. The researcher for data collection uses the written test, a test is very useful to know the achievement of the students in understanding the material given by the teacher.

Data Analysis

In order to know the improvement of students' achievements, the author analyzed the difference between mean of pre-test and two evaluations of test scores.

Achievement Indicator

  • Result of The Cycle I
  • The Cycle II

In addition to this, the researcher also prepared the game, checklist for observed students' activity, group of students. The first, the teacher did not give the observation and asked the students to predict the material that would be given, so some students would be shocked by the teacher's explanation. The second, the teacher did not. But still, based on the result of the students' average score per aspect of composition profile score guide in cycle 1.

But based on the average student score, students were generally only in the fair to poor category.
