I would like to submit the manuscript entitled “Ameliorative effect of Eruca Sativa seed and Its Rutin on Gentamicin- Induced Nephrotoxicity via Targeting Inflammatory Status, Oxidative Stress and kidney injury molecule-1 /Cystatin c genes” to be considered for publication as an original article in
“Indonesian Biomedical Journal”.
In this manuscript, we report on a great risk of gentamicin (GM) nephrotoxicity that represents a serious problem for many populations worldwide. Nowadays, medicinal plants have been widely used everywhere to provide essential care for many remedy renal ailments. Recent reports assumed that the nephroprotective activities of Eruca sativa seeds (ESE) may be ascribed to its active flavenol rutin (RUT). Therefore, the present study evaluated and compared the nephroprotective activities of ESE and its RUT, and monitored some mechanisms of their actions on GM-induced nephrotoxicity in male rats. ESE and pure RUT attenuate gentamicin-induced nephrotoxicity via modulation of the inflammatory status, Oxidative Stress, and downregulation of kidney injury molecule-1 (KIM-1) and Cystatin C gene expression. While, pure RUT was more effective and safer than ESE in in alleviating GM-nephrotoxicity and oxidative kidney injury in GM-nephrotoxic rats.
This manuscript is appropriate for publication by “Indonesian Biomedical Journal” because it elucidate the relevant aspects of preventive medicine, molecular regulatory mechanisms and gene expression related fields. So we believe these findings will be of interest to the readers of your journal.
