India's Response to Rivalry between the US, China and the issue of Australian sovereignty in the Asia Pacific Region

Rivalry is a well-known term in international relations that refers to a relationship of ongoing rivalry and conflict between two states that is marked by recurrently violent interstate conflicts. In this war or rivalry, this is more relatable trade war between the two great power countries. Some of the parties involved in these issues include the Australian government, the US government, the Chinese government, and international institutions that monitor security and geopolitical issues in the region. This Rivalry occurred on the South China Sea Island, Australia has supported the US in urging China to comply with international law on issues such as territorial claims in the South China Sea, the Indo-Pacific Region, Australian Sovereignty in the context of US-China competition also related to geopolitical dynamics in the Indo-Pacific region, which includes East Asia, Southeast Asia and the Indian Ocean and occurs in Australia itself. Australia's sovereignty is a particular issue, the issue of Chinese investment in strategic sectors in Australia and policies related to national security Australia, Due to Australia's location in the middle of the two rival nations, the rivalry between these two great powers, which are partners, has the potential to undermine Australia's interests. Australia produced the 2017 Australian White Paper policy, which includes a strategy to accommodate bilateral relations with the United States and China, in response to concerns about the threat to Australia's interests with these two significant partners.

An intense rivalry between the US and China may cause inflation to rise by as much as 5%. If competition is lacking, there may also be an impact on the US dollar and the euro. The issue of US and China's rivalry and the issue of Australian sovereignty are important to discuss because they affect regional stability, the global economy, national security, international partnerships, international law and the principle of state sovereignty, especially in Australia. The broad impact of this rivalry makes it a relevant issue in international affairs and can even cause global inflation to rise drastically.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres told the 193-member General Assembly that it should be avoided by both countries because it is very dangerous "Our world cannot afford a future where the two largest economies divide the world so badly." The US and China, which are permanent members of the Security Council, actually utilize veto rights which emphasize the influence of the two countries. Both UN officials and diplomats say the US-China conflict seems to be spreading to other issues, so they are hesitant to take action. At a signing event in Washington,

attended by major Republican donors and business leaders, Trump said the deal sets the stage for stronger ties between the US and China. China pledged to increase imports of US products by

$200 billion above 2017 levels and strengthen intellectual property rules. In exchange, the US agreed to reduce by half some of the new tariffs imposed on Chinese products. But most border taxes remain in place, prompting business groups to call for further negotiations.

India has paid close attention to the rivalry between the United States and China in the context of issues involving Australia, especially in terms of security and geopolitics in the Indo- Pacific region. India has a number of strategic interests in the region, and has taken various steps to strengthen cooperation with Australia and the United States. India as China's neighboring country can feel the impact in terms of security and defense. India must reconsider its diplomatic relations and strategic alliances in the context of the US-China rivalry. China has been involved in various Indian infrastructure projects, because of this problem these projects may be hampered. In the context of US-China rivalry, technology and cyber security are important concerns. India must therefore strengthen its cyber infrastructure and technology security policies, in its own national interest. India has strengthened its strategic ties with the US through various initiatives such as the Thirdparty Logistics Agreement (LEMOA) Technical Communications Agreement (COMCASA) and Geospatial Information Exchange Agreement (BECA) this enables military cooperation of the two countries. During the border confrontation in Landak with China it has taken steps to strengthen its border defense which has increased military cooperation with countries such as America and Russia. India has also strengthened its relations with America by means of trade negotiations to create a balanced economic cooperation framework. And finally, India has also supported the role of international organizations and resolved disputes and conflicts such as the UN and WTO. India seeks balance in US and China relations and has developed strategic ties with the US, also maintaining important ties with China. The UN should take this step so that it is in accordance with the vision and mission to be achieved.

The UN is a very strong international organization to achieve peace in countries. The UN is obliged to act as a mediator in the current situation and try to defuse the hot conflict so that it does not spread to affected neighboring countries such as India, instead of being afraid of the power of these two countries and ultimately becoming deadlocked. India has plans for the US and China to maintain an open dialogue until the Indian state has assumed the role of mediator on regional issues. India has also developed strategic ties with the US but also maintains ties with China especially on the trade front. India also seeks cooperation with the US and China on global issues such as climate change, trade and international security. It is important to remember that the US and China rivalry is a complex issue and requires strong international cooperation. Use track 2 diplomacy to involve roles from non-governmental parties such as academic strategic thinkers or civil society organizations to provide creative solutions. And it would also be better if the US and China consulted with regional countries affected by their rivalry such as India, Japan and ASEAN countries. This is done so that if one method cannot be resolved then there is another method that will be used to resolve this complex conflict.
