The high prevalence of anemia especially iron deficiency anemia in pregnant woman is still a problem in Indonesia. Anemia is often associated with a high risk of mortality in pregnant women. Low obedience in taking iron tablets (FeSO4) during pregnancy is one of the trigger factors. Non-compliance occurs because mothers often feel lazy and forget to consume of the tablets. The necessary ways to improve and monitor the consumption of FeSO4 tablets and vitamine C using SMS reminder as a reminder of the mother in taking the drug.
The purpose of this study is to determine the influence of mentoring SMS reminder concerning obedience consumption FeSO4 tablets and vitamine C and outcome about hemoglobin levels for pregnant woman. The research used quasy experiment with pretest posttest control group design. Population 40 third trimester pregnant woman with anemia and a sample size of each of the 18 responden in the treatment group and control group, taken by simple random sampling technique and selected based on the criteria specified. This research was conducted in working area Puskesmas Kedungkandang in May until June 2018. Data collected using a instrument observation sheet and Hb measurement tools EasyTouch. Data analysis using Wilcoxon test and Mann Whitney test.
Result of statistic test shows the significant increase of adherence and hemoglobin level after given SMS reminder in which the treatment group compared with the control group with significant of p <0,05. Because p value < α then hypothesis accepted or there is a influence. It is expected that SMS reminder is given to pregnant women can improve obedience consumption FeSO4 and vitamine C so the incidence of anemia can be suppressed and this method can be used as promotive, preventive, and appropriate technology development efforts.
