Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis
The Associate of Science program is offered at IUPUI, IU Northwest and IU Kokomo with selected nursing courses at IU East. The Bachelor of Science program is offered at IUPUI, IU Northwest and IU Southeast with select nursing courses offered at IU Bloomington.
Indiana University Bloomington
Most prerequisite courses in the baccalaureate program can be taken at any Indiana University campus.
Indiana University East
Indiana University East offers courses for the Associate of Science degree as a component of the Indiana University School of Nursing Program at IUPUI. Upon completion, students receive the Associate of Science in Nursing degree from the Indiana University School of Nursing, IUPUI Campus.
Indiana University Kokomo
Indiana University assumed administrative control in October 1970 and began development of the new campus. All questions regarding the undergraduate and Associate of Science in Nursing Program should be directed to the Admissions Office at Indiana University East, 2325 Chester Boulevard, Richmond, Indiana 47374.
Indiana University Northwest
With the consent of the four cooperating institutions involved with the Center, Indiana University was asked to assume responsibility for incorporating the new regional campus in Richmond. A two-year Associate of Science in Nursing degree program is offered to help meet the growing need for registered nurses in the community.
Indiana University at South Bend
The first group of students will be certified in the nursing major in the fall of 1983.
Indiana University Southeast
Students are required to receive academic advising from the School of Nursing advisor before and after certification in nursing.

Statement of General Beliefs
Beliefs Specific to Educational Programs
The doctoral-prepared graduate in nursing is a scientific researcher for the development of nursing science and theory building in nursing in the role of teacher, consultant, administrator or university practitioner. Continuing education in nursing consists of planned and organized learning experiences designed to enhance the knowledge, skills, and attitudes of registered nurses for the improvement of nursing practice, education, administration, and research.
The Code for Nurses
Graduate nursing education provides the broad foundation in the sciences and humanities necessary to prepare professional nurses skilled in assessing nursing needs and providing nursing interventions. The graduate prepared for the master's degree in nursing is a highly competent and self-directed practitioner in a chosen field of nursing who can exercise effective leadership in improving nursing practice and in investigating nursing issues and problems.
General Policies School of Nursing, All Campuses
The nurse participates in the profession's efforts to protect the public from misinformation and misrepresentation and to maintain the integrity of nursing. The nurse works with members of the health professions and other citizens in promoting community and national efforts to meet the health needs of the public.
Academic Regulations, All Campuses
After that, but before the end of the third quarter of classes (see Semester Calendar), both the counselor's and the instructor's signatures are required. Incomplete items are given at the discretion of the instructor (usually when the student has completed at least three-quarters of the coursework and unusual circumstances prevent the student from completing the work within the time limits previously set).
Memberships
Forms for adding and changing sections, which contain appropriate signatures, are submitted by the student to the registrar's office within ten days from the date of issue. Change of department forms approved after the deadline require the signature of the instructor of the course into which the student is changing.
Alumni Association
Additional authorization signatures, when required, are listed on the back of the course change form and with the course listing in the lecture schedule. In this case, the form must have the additional signature of the head of the department in which the course is being conducted when it is submitted to the registry office.

Admission
Support courses relevant to nursing may be completed in the University Division once the student has been approved by the Associate of Science Counselor. Students who have completed at least 15 credit hours in nursing-relevant courses will be given preference.

The Associate of Science in Nursing Program has a chapter at Indiana University East in Richmond. The Associate of Science in Nursing program is offered at two other Indiana University campuses: Kokomo and Northwest.
Baccalaureate Program
For further information, write to the Director of the Associate of Science in Nursing Program at the campus where registration is required. 1 Prerequisite courses may be taken at any of the Indiana University campuses or may be accepted as transfer credit from other accredited institutions.
Application and Admission
The University's Office of Admissions determines the eligibility of students for the Guided Study Program. The School of Nursing is not responsible for certifying students to the degree if they do not submit the application.

Curriculum Design
Elementary Chemistry I (ClOl is a prerequisite course for Elementary Chemistry II C102.) Elementary Chemistry II (C102) is the chemistry course required by the Indiana University School of Nursing for certification to the graduate program in nursing. Students who have successfully completed one year of Algebra and one year of High School Chemistry (Grade C) may elect to take the Chemistry Proficiency Exam for C101.

Admission Requirements
Candidates must meet both the general requirements of the Master's program in the School of Nursing and the specific requirements of the course. After enrolling in Nursing Study R590 (3 yr.) or Thesis R699 (6 yr.), the student must enroll each semester and summer session in R900, a one-credit pseudocourse, until the deferred grade (R) is removed.
Specialist Degree Program
Admission to the Specialist Degree Program requires approval by the School of Nursing and by the faculty of the primary care major. Part-time study is possible for the first 30 credit hours of the Specialist Degree Program.

Doctor of Nursing Science Degree Program
The applicant is considered taking into account the entire composition of the eight criteria listed above. Deferment may be granted by written request, subject to adjustment of admission status to the requirements of the new registration period.

An applicant who meets all admission criteria and is selected for admission by the Admissions, Promotion and Graduation Committee will be unconditionally admitted. Evidence of application for enrollment must be submitted to the Associate Dean for Graduate Studies prior to the start of the first semester of enrollment.

The pattern and duration of the Doctor of Nursing Science program for the individual student will be determined in consultation with the student's primary advisor. Courses in the School of Nursing
The discussion of the nursing process emphasizes the analysis of interventions in ingestion, digestion, absorption, and elimination. This clinical course focuses on the implementation of the nursing process in restoration and maintenance in acute health disorders and acute episodes of chronic health disorders of pediatric clients in acute care settings.

Fees for credit hours longer than 6 in a semester or summer session are at the full resident rate. It is the responsibility of the veteran or veteran dependent to sign up for benefits each semester or summer session of enrollment.
Transfer to Other Indiana University Campuses
Compensation for a full-time (100% FTE) Indiana University employee enrolled for 1 to 6 credit hours per semester or summer session will be assessed at half the local credit hour rate on the campus where the employee is enrolled . The spouse of a full-time (100% F.T.E.) employee of Indiana University is entitled to an honorarium credit of one-half the local undergraduate rate for each credit hour, up to a maximum of 3 credit hours per semester or summer session.
