The pediatric nurse practitioner sequence is a 39 credit hour degree consisting of CSSO, C551, C553, C556, YSSS, which is shared with the primary health department and a pharmacology course. This course sequence is eligible to apply for National Association of American Colleges of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (NAACOG) certification.
Mobility Possibilities
Children at Risk Sequence, a 40 credit hour major, includes CSSO, C553, CSSS and C670 plus a guided elective. The courses in each concentration are taken in addition to the compulsory courses for the major's adult track.

Application and Admission
Certified students are those admitted to the School of Nursing after applying and meeting the certification requirements listed under "Certification for the Baccalaureate Major for Basic Students.". See "Certification for Baccalaureate Major for Basic Students" for details on the certification process.).
Programs for Academically
Credit is granted upon transfer from other accredited colleges and universities for courses completed with minimum grades of C (2.0), insofar as the courses meet the curriculum requirements of this program and are equivalent to courses taken in the School of Nursing or other schools in the University. Credit for such courses and applicability to the degree will be determined by the University's Office of Admissions and the School of Nursing.
Disadvantaged Students
Students may obtain advanced standing in the program through credit transfer and/or credit by examination. Credit may be received for general education courses by passing College Board Advanced Placement tests during the last semester of high school, by outstanding performance as determined by advanced placement exams taken before the beginning of each academic year, by achieving acceptable scores on the College Level Examination.

Lower Division Prerequisite Courses
Nursing majors who have completed 12 credit hours of required nursing courses with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5 are eligible for admission to the honors program. To graduate from Indiana University School of Nursing with an honors degree, a student must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5 and complete 24 credit hours of honors courses.
Policies Governing Baccalaureate Study
In the past, some advanced nursing courses were taught in England by the Indiana University School of Nursing. All future admissions to the nursing major will be based on space availability and criteria for advancement in clinical nursing courses as defined in the section of this bulletin entitled "Placing in Upper Division Nursing Courses."
Associate of Science in Nursing Program
Four semesters of foreign languages are highly recommended, as are courses that develop writing composition skills. Applicants must have a grade of C or higher in each course representing one unit of laboratory science and one unit of algebra, as well as C averages, or higher, in three units of English.
Category II
A student will be denied admission if the grade point average falls below 2.0 between admission and actual enrollment in the nursing program. A grade point average of 2.0 or higher is required for all general education courses in the nursing curriculum.

General Policies

Undergraduate Admissions Policy
Students who have been out of high school for three or more years do not need to submit test scores unless required for admission to specific programs. If any provision of this Policy is invalid, the invalidity will not affect other provisions of this Policy which may be given effect without the invalid provision, and for this purpose the provisions of this Policy may be severed.
Transfer to Other Indiana University Campuses
For persons who do not meet the above criteria and who are three or more years out of high school, admission may be based on other factors such as a General Education Qualification.
