Ruang lingkup jurnal ini membahas tentang pengalaman kesulitan dimasa kanak-kanak, tekanan psikologis, dan ketahanan terhadap gejala depresi dengan subjek mahasiswa. Belum ada pembahasan tentang

keterbatasan penelitian, implikasi dan saran untuk penelitian berikutnya.

Artikel ini sudah sesuai dengan panduan jurnal yang berlaku. Kelengkapan dan kesesuain unsur pada artikel ini maka dapat dikatakan bahwa telah memenuhi unsur kelengkapan artikel sesuai panduan PAK dan penulisan ilmiah, yaitu memenuhi unsur nilai 10 persen.

2. Tentang ruang lingkup dan kedalaman pembahasan:

Artikel ini sudah sesuai dengan ruang lingkup dan sudah dibahas secara mendalam di bagian analisa dan pembahasan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan gangguan pada masa kanak-kanak pengalaman dan depresi di kalangan mahasiswa dan untuk menyelidiki peran masa kanak-kanak yang merugikan dan mengalami depresi. Depresi sering terjadi mahasiswa. Memiliki setidaknya satu masa kanak-kanak yang merugikan pengalaman dapat meningkatkan risiko mengalami depresi menjadi 2,48 kali. Dengan resiko ini, siswa tentu membutuhkan lebih banyak dukungan dan bimbingan dalam

menangani baik akademik maupun lawan stres akademis selama mereka belajar di universitas.

3. Kecukupan dan kemutakhiran data/informasi dan metodologi:

Penelitian ini sudah didukung oleh data primer dan sekunder serta memiliki tahapan metodologi yang jelas. Metode yang digunakan adalah penelitian kuantitatif. Penelitian ini menggunakan kuisioner untuk mengukur jenis dan hal apa saja tentang kesulitan-kesulitan yang dialami subjek selama masa kecil mereka. Alat ukur tersebut terdiri dari 12 item.

4. Kelengkapan unsur kualitas penerbit:

Penerbit jurnal adalah International Journal of Adolescence and Youth. Jurnal ini sudah terindeks Scopus Q2 dan memiliki impact factor 0,57. Dengan berada di kuartil 2 maka dapat dikatakan kualitas jurnal ini adalah tinggi. Artikel ini ditulis dengan bahasa inggris baku, telah memiliki ISSN serta telah memiliki alamat url yang valid untuk publikasi artikel tersebut. tim editor juga telah melibatkan berbagai negara, yang tentu saja telah memiliki kapasitas yang baik dalam hal publikasi ilmiah internasional.

5. Indikasi plagiasi:

Artikel ini telah dicek dengan aplikasi turnitin. Artikel ini setelah dicek dengan aplikasi turnitin , yaitu menunjukkan similiarity dibawah 15 persen sesuai dengan batasan PAK. Sehingga bisa disampaikan bahwa artikel ini tidak ada plagiasi dan memiliki orisinalitas artikel.

6. Kesesuaian bidang ilmu:

Artikel penelitian ini sesuai dengan bidang psikologi klinis, yang merupakan latar belakang pendidikan penulis. Abstract

This study examined the role of childhood adversity experiences , psychological distress and resilience on depressive symptoms. The sample consisted of 443 Indonesian university students . Participants’ age range from 17 to 21 (M = 18.60, SD = 0.61). Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) Questionnaire, General Health Questionnaire-12 (GHQ- 12), Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC), and Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II) were used to guide data collection. Path analysis results revealed the direct relationship between the childhood traumas with depressive symptoms and, had no direct relationship on resilience. In addition, resilience partially mediates the relationship between adolescents’

psychological distress and depressive symptoms but not to childhood trauma and depressive symptoms. These results indicate the importance of the influence of resilience and the importance of the development of university based programs aimed to promote resilience among Indonesian university students . © 2019, © 2019 The Author(s). Examining the association between parenting and psychosomatic problems: self-esteem as a mediator across ages in early

ABSTRACT

Supportive parenting is known to protect against psychosomatic manifestations of distress, yet the mechanisms through which this association operates are less clear. The present study evaluates children’s self-esteem as a mediator, partially explaining the association between parent–child relationship quality and psychosomatic problems from late childhood to mid-adolescence. Results from a large, nationally-representative Canadian sample indicated that self-esteem partially mediated these associations, and self-esteem accounted for more shared variance between parent–child relationship quality and psychosomatic problems among younger children.

Among older children, shared variance with self-esteem explained a smaller portion of this association, but the remaining direct effect of parent–child relationship on psychosomatic problems was larger. These findings suggest that supportive parents protect against psychosomatic problems, and that they do so by promoting self-esteem for younger children and through other mechanisms as children age. Results are discussed in the context of attachment theory and age-related trends in self-esteem development.

Introduction

The importance of parenting for healthy child development is well documented, and the mechanisms behind this association are numerous and complex. Parents foster healthy development both directly, through emotional support and assistance with problem solving, and indirectly, by enabling the child to develop intrinsic resources such as self-esteem. The effects of parenting behavior are most notable during sensitive periods of development, at which time the child is particularly susceptible to envi- ronmental influences (e.g. Feldman, 2015; Whittle et al., 2014). These sensitive periods include infancy, during which attachment representations are built through parent–child interactions (Ainsworth, 1979;

Bowlby, 1969; Fraley, 2002), and adolescence, when parents continue to provide a secure base from which the teenager can safely explore independence (Allen et al., 2003). Adolescents who lack this secure base are not only left to navigate an increasingly complex and stressful social world without this

‘safety net’, but also tend to believe that other close relationships cannot be relied upon for support (e.g. Pascuzzo, Cyr, & Moss, 2013; Vaughn et al., 2016; Waters, Ruiz, & Roisman, 2017).

ine communication were associated in middle adolescence with certain indicators of the quality of peer relationships and school victimisation.

A longitudinal study with two waves separated by one year was con- ducted, in which 882 adolescents aged 13

16 years old from Andalusia (Spain) completed self-report measures. Results showed that online com- munication was very frequently used to talk with friends, even more often that o

ine means. Cross-sectionally, online communication was positively associated with quality of peer relationships and negatively to school victimisation, reaching stronger associations than o

ine commu- nication. Longitudinally, results indicated that more frequent text messa- ging was related to more easiness to make friends and no bullying in those adolescents with more initial di

culties. Thus, it suggests the need to develop safe spaces for online interactions in order to improve the quality of their relationships with their friends and partners.

Introduction

Online communication refers to several ways of communication via new electronic and Internet technologies, such as instant short messages or social network platforms (Subrahmanyam &

Green fi eld, 2008; Valkenburg & Peter, 2011). The HBSC study (Health Behaviour in School-aged Children), conducted in 44 European and North-American countries in collaboration with World Health Organization, showed that online communication has become a central part of mid- adolescent lives, allowing them to keep in contact with peers regardless of time and space (Matos, Tinoco, Unkovska, Bogt & Kuntsche, 2008). Data from its latest report indicated that 15- year-old adolescents communicated online more frequently than 11-year-old adolescents, and that girls used these online media more often than boys (Currie et al., 2012). In Spain, Garcia, Lopez de Ayala and Catalina (2013) conducted a survey with a representative national sample and concluded that around 75% of adolescents aged between 12 and 17 years old used social networks very often.

In a study carried out in Andalusia (Spain), Bernal and Angulo (2013) concluded that adolescents used social networks preferably to communicate with their peers and stay in contact with their social reference group. Thus, internet constitutes an important framework for communication and social interaction and deserves greater attention from researchers, especially during adolescent transition to social adulthood.

Whilst in the nineties some studies identi fi ed several negative e ff ects of online communication, such as the addictive use, casual relationships with strangers and cyberbullying, current studies

The focus in this study, however, was on early adolescence (11

14 years of age) and not on adolescence as a whole process. This study focused in particular on early adolescent girls, their psychosocial development and possible relationship problems. Early adolescent girls often display imbal- ances due to hormonal changes that in turn cause emotional reactions in especially relationships within the peer group. The researchers used semi- structured interviews in a qualitative study to deduce what kind of relation- ship problems seven early adolescents experienced within their peer group and how they handled the problems. Group therapy was used as therapeutic intervention, because it is often successful for interpersonal and intrapersonal psychological problems. The

ndings of the empirical study concurred with the above notion, as well as with

ndings from the literature review.

Introduction

Papalia, Olds, and Feldman (2008, p. 419) indicate that the word ‘ adolescence ’ comes from the Latin word ‘ adolescere ’ . It means ‘ to grow in maturity ’ . Adolescence is a process rather than a speci fi c period in an individual ’ s life. It is the time between puberty and adulthood, during which young people prepare for their roles and responsibilities as adults (Arnett, 2013). According to Louw, Van Ede, and Louw (1998), adolescence is a developmental stage divided in three stages:

Early adolescence, between 11 and 14 years

Middle adolescence, between 14 and 18 years

Late adolescence, between 18 and 21 years

For this study, the emphasis was on early adolescent girls, approximately between 11 and 14 years. It focussed on the psychosocial development with attention to peer-group relations. Friendships as part of social relations are complicated in early adolescence, but are of great importance for optimal development (Van Roekel, Scholte, Engels, Goossens, & Verhagen, 2015). Good peer relations have a positive in fl uence on adolescents ’ psychosocial development. However, peer groups can also be a source of pain and stress resulting from rejection, negative expectations, poor communication, con fl ict, peer pressure and jealousy that may lead to uncertainty, doubt and loneliness.

A qualitative study was conducted by way of a literature- and empirical study on peer- group relationship problems among early adolescent girls, and the possibility of group therapy as therapeutic intervention. The research question was: Can group therapy help early adolescent girls with peer-group relationship problems? The resulting sub questions were the following:

The explanatory determinants of a successful mindfulness intervention in an ecuadorian university: a logit analysis

ABSTRACT

This paper examines the success of a Mindfulness Intervention on 206 freshmen at the School of Social Sciences and Humanities of ESPOL, in Guayaquil-Ecuador by using logit analysis. The results show that age, gender, type of college, college´s location, number of mindfulness ses- sions, admission score, approved subjects, academic scores, people you live with, birth order, higher education career, play musical instrument, practice sport, and the use of glasses of the respondents have signi

cant e

ects on mindfulness practice. The contribution of the study remains as the observed e

ects might respond to a particular behavior of students of social sciences. A future approach may then include students from di

erent areas and analyze if there are any di

erences among such groups.

Introduction

Mindfulness is de fi ned as the capacity of full perception and awareness of what is taking place around us (Brown, Ryan, & Creswell, 2007). Its development has been considered as an alternative to help stabilize individuals ’ physical and mental processes, given that this meditation practice allows each to enjoy each experience to which he is exposed (Roeser & Peck, 2009), (Roeser & Peck, 2009). The mindfulness practice has become more popular since the seventies, and there have been several studies trying to measure its e ff ectiveness as a tool to balance emotions and behavior (Kra ff t, Haeger, &

Levin, 2017).

Some experiments have searched for physical e ff ects and others for academic improvement (Almirall, Kasari, McCa ff rey, & Nahum-Shani, 2017; Bunce, Baird, & Jones, 2016; Caro, 2015; Levin &

Bel fi eld, 2015) knowing that presence of stress hinders the appropriate students ’ performance (Craddock & Mathias, 2009; Denovan, Dagnall, Dhingra, & Grogan, 2017). García Campayo (2008) showed that a Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction program (MBSR) helped patients and profes- sionals with conditions such as stress levels, depression, cancer, addiction, pain, generalized anxiety, arthritis, and fi bromyalgia. Similarly, Hölzel et al. (2011) presented a controlled longitudinal study to investigate about changes in the brain through observations during the pre- and post- intervention phases. They used a magnetic resonance test, and the FFMQ test with 16 participants was asked to meditate for eight weeks and received a 45-minute audio guide to mindfulness exercises. The results showed that there an increase in the concentration of grey matter on the left hippocampus, suggesting that its practice can improve learning and memory, emotion regulation, self-processing referential and perspective taking.
