Artikel ini membahas tentang ekstrak Purwoceng (Pimpinella Alipna Molk) mengansung senyawa steroid dapat meningkatkan biomarker fungsi ereksi pada tikus jantan Spraque Dawley. Kajian difokuskan pada analisis peningkatan kadar eNOS, nNOS dan cGMP di penis corpus cavernnosum tikus jantan. Dalam pembahasan terdapat 16 dari 26 artikel referensi (61,5%) yang menandakan referensi yang digunakan sudah cukup mendalam dan komprehensif. Nampak bahwa hasil cukup memberikan kontribusi yang signifikan dalam pengembangan ilmu terutama biofarmaka, atau pun pemanfaatan nilai tambah dari tanaman obat.

3. Kecukupan dan kemutakhiran data/informasi dan metodologi:

Kemuktahiran artikel ini agak kurang baik hal ini ditunjukkan dari jumlah referensi dimana hanya 4 dari 26 artikel (15,4%) referensi yang merupakan artikel 10 tahun terakhir. Nilai novelty masih cukup baik, dimana metode dijabarkan dengan cukup detail. Data yang disajikan sangat baik dengan menyantumkan berbagai gambar dari ekspresi nNOS maupun eNOS.

Jurnal diterbitkan oleh Department of Surgery, Mayo hospital termasuk dalam jurnal terindeks SCOPUS Q4 dengan SJR = 0.12 (Tahun 2018), H index=5.Editorial board terdiri dari 5 negara pada 2020, editorial board berasal dari UK (5 editor), USA (1 editor), Malaysia (1 editor), Canada (1 editor) dan Nepal (1 editor). Abstract

Purwoceng (Pimpinella alpina Molk) extract could improve the testosterone levels, LH, and FSHin Spraque Dawley male rats.We hypothesized that Purwoceng extract can increase erectile-function biomarker in male ratsSpraque Dawley through increased expression level of eNOS endothelial, nNOS nerve ending expression levels and the levels of cGMP in penile corpus cavernosum.We used Post test only controlled group design and used 30male ratsSpraque Dawley which randomized into two groups: castrated and noncastrated, consist of control group, 4 hours and 30-days treatment. Purwoceng extract supplementation dose of 50 mg increased signiﬁcantly the number of eNOS, nNOS expression and cGMP levels of corpus cavernosum penile tissue compare to control group. The highest enhancement of cGMP level along with eNOS and nNOS expression were obtained after 30-days treatment. Enhancement of eNOS expression for endothelium was positively correlated to increment levels of cGMP and nNOS nerve ending smooth muscle corpus cavernosum. Purwoceng (Pimpinella alpina Molk) extracts could enhance erectile function biomarker.
