Population and sample

Instrument of the Research

Then the post test was administered to know the reading performance of the students after given treatment using random text strategy.

Procedure of Collecting Data

To calculate the improvement of the students' score from pre-test and post-test, the researcher used the following formula. It presents the result of the students' reading comprehension especially in Literal Comprehension (main idea and supporting idea) using Random Text Strategy. The data of reading test of the students was obtained through literal comprehension in terms of main ideas and supporting idea.

Based on Table 4.1, the researcher concluded that students' reading comprehension in literal sense in terms of main ideas, most of them were good with 2 students (6.90%) in pretest and in posttest they were good with 10 students (34.48%). Based on these results, it was concluded that using the Random Text Strategy could improve students' reading comprehension in the literal sense. Based on these results, it was concluded that using the Random Text Strategy could improve students' reading comprehension in literal sense (supporting ideas).

Based on these results, it was concluded that there were significant differences of students' reading comprehension with literal comprehension in terms of main idea and supporting idea before and after using the Case Text Strategy. Finally, the researcher administered a post-test to find out the student's reading comprehension after using the random text strategy and the student's reading test score. Literal comprehension represents the students' ability to understand the content of the text. Based on the result of the finding that the student's literal comprehension before the treatment was categorized as fair in the main ideas on the pretest, and after the treatment it was categorized as good in the main ideas on the posttest.

Therefore, the Random Text Strategy was able to improve students' reading comprehension at the eleventh grade level in SMA MuhammadiyahDisamakan.
