ORGANIZATION OF THE PARAGRAPH

Unity: It means that all the sentences refer to the main idea, or topic of the paragraph. In a unified paragraph, we expect all sentences to be related to the main idea of the paragraph. Now, rewrite the main idea of the example paragraph so that it covers all the sentences the student has written.

A good friend is someone who doesn't tell me lies, who helps me and lets me help him, and who I can talk to in confidence. Development of the ideas: This means that every idea discussed in the section must be adequately explained and supported. The list and the paragraph are of equal length because the ideas in the paragraph are also listed without explanation.

Let's rewrite the paragraph and create a topic sentence and some explanation of the ideas provided.

VOCABULARY CHOICE

I should be able to find him near me when I'm in a bad mood or when I have a problem. Finally, if necessary, he should criticize me so that I can change my unwanted behavior or see where I am wrong. Some may disagree with me, but I don't think a very short person and a very tall person could get along for long. In short, the behavior, types of activities, and physical appearance of friends must be similar to be good friends.

I feel that homeschooling requires a lot of discipline and I am a person who gets distracted easily. While my roommate has no problem turning off her phone while she studies, I'm the type of person who worries about missing an important call.

Even when I'm studying for exams or writing essays, I have to do my work in the library where I can't be interrupted. While the convenience of an online course is attractive to me, I know my grade would suffer.

While she agrees that there is an error in the article about the lack of recycling in the residences, she believes more needs to be done to improve the recycling program on campus. She thinks the university could fund a better recycling program by including part of the costs in tuition fees. I read this article in the campus newspaper today that suggests that none of the dorms on campus are recycling.

These differ from the stressors that the average person experiences in everyday life, such as work or financial problems, in that they are a product of the imagination. In addition to these symptoms and reactions, a true OCD sufferer spends much of the day battling this disease. Although it is mentioned that the average stressors in daily life do not cause the obsessions of OCD sufferers, the lecture expands on this fact and gives clear examples of obsessions and compulsions.

The professor claims that the disorder is not taken seriously enough because people tend to misuse the term "obsessed". As in the reading, the professor points out that obsessions for OCD sufferers are not realistic. Professor: The terms "obsessed" and "addict" are used so loosely these days that one of the most serious mental illnesses in America is often not taken seriously even by medical professionals.

Obsessive-compulsive disorder is actually one of the most debilitating psychological illnesses, even though it only affects about 4% of the population.

Students cannot find the idea of the text because they do not know the words and also cannot guess the meaning from the context. Among the SALLC materials, the reading logs are the material most accessed by students. In reading journals, students are required to report on their guesswork, difficult vocabulary, how they are progressing with reading, the difficulties they encountered, and the emotions and feelings they experience while reading and writing.

Students need to get information from the scientific or technological articles, but when they read a literary text, they are reading for pleasure. Students need to find out the main idea and supporting details from the text and they need to know what kind of grammar is used in the text and then know what the information in the text is. In other words, students must choose the text that interests them in order to improve their reading.

It means that the teacher must know the students' abilities to do the right purpose and task in reading. Students should read the material based on their language proficiency in order to achieve the reading goals which is to get the overall meaning and meaning from the materials they read. The answer to reading logs will depend on the background, culture, beliefs and experience of the students.

The benefits of using reading logs for students are: the students are asked to read the text outside the classroom to prepare themselves before following the learning process in the classroom, reading logs helps them keep track of what they have read .
