With a team of six members, we worked enthusiastically to make sure that these themes were delivered, and we could not be more pleased with the fruitful results. Every speaker elaborated the profession in detail, from their tasks to the requirements to become in- house lawyer or legal auditor. For students who aspire to be in- house lawyers and legal auditors, this event facilitated them by inviting professionals to give extensive knowledge related to those professions.

This workshop was held with a series of discussions between the partner and associates of Hendra Soenardi Law Firm with the participants about various scenarios of acquisition of the private company in order to test the participants’ legal knowledge and legal reasoning as a lawyer to resolve legal issues pertaining to the acquisition of the private.

On June 12th 2021, LCDC FH UGM in collaboration with DEMA Justicia conducted a workshop with the theme of “Mock Interviews”. First, when conducting an interview with HR, it usually leaned more on the general side and aimed to confirm administrative aspects of the job application. Meanwhile, when conducting an interview with a user, it usually leaned more on the more technical or academic-based and related to the skills needed of the offered job.
Second, there are several pre-interview checklists, among which are being punctual, dressing to impress, bringing our resume, and doing prior research of the company. Third, when doing an interview either with HR or user, using STAR technique that consists of Situation (describe the event or situation you were in), Task (explain the task you had to complete), Action (describe the specific action you took to complete the task), and Result (close with the result of your efforts).

During the course of the year-long pandemic, many companies have experienced a drastic slowdown where they must significantly reduce or even close their business activities, thus impacting parties providing legal services to these companies. With the decreasing number of legal services demanded due to the slowdown in the economy caused by the pandemic, there will also be a decrease of job vacancies open for newly graduated students of the FH UGM. Accordingly, in order to respond to the decreasing job opportunities, a strategy which must involve the cooperation of faculties, business actors, and law firms is needed.
Therefore, the LCDC of FH UGM is collaborating with the Community of International Moot Court (CIMC) UGM to organize Career Week 2021. This event shall provide easier access to various career opportunities in the field of law for graduates and/or students of Faculty of Law, UGM, by inviting law firms, companies, NGOs, banks, and various other companies to share job vacancies information, as well as to conduct online recruitments. Career Week activities consisted of two series of events: first, company profile introduction and second, on-the-spot recruitment or workshop.
In relation to the company profile introduction, the Partners was given the chance to introduce their workplaces and areas of expertise, workplace recruitment mechanisms, as well as provide a substantive exposure in the form of tips and tricks for applying for jobs. Some examples of materials that were discussed includes CV writing tips, critical thinking test tips, soft skills in the workplace, and introduction to certain legal profession. In this case, the LCDC and CIMC of FH UGM will facilitate in the collection of CVs and applications from participants, and facilitate essay/multiple choice/legal analysis using external application.
Regarding the workshop, the Partners may provide a substantive presentation of the work normally done in the legal profession. Some examples of materials that were discussed include legal due diligence, regulatory landscape for fintech in Indonesia, legal aspects in fundraising process, and many more.

Meningkatkan Kesadaran Pencegahan Kekerasan
On February 27th 2021, LCDC conducted a webinar with the theme “Meningkatkan Kesadaran Pencegahan Kekerasan Seksual di Kampus”. First, it is found that various campus in Indonesia does not have a clear and firm regulation regarding sexual violence in campus because the absence of legal basis. Therefore, the Rector Regulation stands as a structural measure to prevent sexual violence with the function of of protecting academic community in FH UGM from the threat of sexual violence.
The Regulation will also be the basis of policy for the follow-up of all forms of sexual violence cases on campus. ULT UGM’s duty lies upon receiving report and not resolving the sexual violence on campus case. If sexual violence occurs between students, then the Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs will directly handle the case.
However, if sexual violence occurs between Lecturers and Educators, the Vice Rector of HRA will be in charge to handle such complaint. Meanwhile if the sexual violence occurs between Lecturers/Educators and students, the Rector will directly handle it. Through these SOPs, it is hoped that it will ensure the consistency and organization of LCDC’s activities.
The raw data was used to make an internal alumni database to map out a collaboration for LCDC’s activities. Students fill the google form which can be accessed through LCDC’s social media to book an appointment with an LCDC staff. LCDC staff may convey the matter to Prodi (Program Studi) and Vice Dean for student affairs no later than 3 days after the consultation if it is deemed necessary.
