Master degree program option for IBMG students

For PhD students in the Anatomy and Cell Biology program who have entered through the Indiana BioMedical Gateway Program (IBMG), those students who do not progress to candidacy may be awarded the Master of Science in Anatomy and Cell Biology as a terminal degree, if they meet the following criteria:

1. They are in good standing within the Anatomy and Cell Biology graduate program with regard to grades and grade point average.

2. They have taken (or transferred) all the required courses for the program, including Biomedical Science I, II, and III (G715, G716, G717), three research rotations (G818), Research Communication Seminar (G655), Ethics (G505), Statistics (G855), Seminar (D861), and two courses in the anatomical sciences (from D501, D502, D527, D850, D851, D852, G817).

3. They have earned a total of at least 30 hours of credit.

4. They have completed a research project involving original work, written that project up (either in the form of a thesis or a paper), and successfully defended it before a committee made up of the faculty mentor and two other members of the Department.

This version of the master degree is not offered to students who do not

matriculate through the IBMG PhD program, and does not replace the existing Master of Science in Anatomy and Cell Biology degree.
