This session, IU has asked for the largest percentage increase for the non-health portion of the Indianapolis campus – near 18 percent for the first year and 15 percent for the second year. Building on this campus that was at the bottom of the High Priority category list. It also does not include the land acquisition funds for this campus and the approximately $4.3 million purchase of the Mary Cable School, which falls into the Projects of Interest category.

WILSON: One of the things that's in this document is that writing skills are highly recommended, number one. The increase over the two semesters is significant and the specification of the courses is very significant in terms of secondary schools. You must understand that this was a document that we prepared on the instructions of the Higher Education Commission. Is this on the agenda of the executive committee or do you anticipate that it will be. It's just that the commission for higher education followed a standard formula, a standard percentage of the basis, in its recommendations.

SIDHU: If that is the case, and the committee was appointed by President Ryan and the committee was a comprehensive committee that represented other campus councils, I would like to know what the basis of the Student Affairs Committee is that they came to this conclusion. SIDHU: Henry, when the committee was appointed, it should have given others an opportunity to respond, shouldn't it. To work with the committee that already exists, should that committee consider continuing its work, so that it would simply be a review of the committee's work, an opportunity to comment on the draft that had been circulated with the idea that the committee would take into account the recommendations that would be made and, if desired, incorporate them to make a better document.

That the IUPUI Faculty Council ask the University Faculty Council to establish a committee to conduct a thorough review and revision of the Statement of Student Rights and Responsibilities (Revised Document). HARPER: It seems that we should first ask the University Faculty Council to disapprove the document as it is currently drafted before suggesting how they might amend it. Ed Harper's motion to amend will add to the main motion that we recommend to the University faculty that they reject the proposed Student Statement.

We will be looking for another commission which will be appointed probably at the end of next autumn.
