AN ANALYSIS OF REPETITION ON STUDENTS' WRITING OF THE ELEVENTH GRADER AT MAN 2 TULANG BAWANG BARAT. Categorization of Pre-Survey result writing of the eleventh graders at MAN 2 Tulang Bawang Barat. Therefore, the researcher constructs an undergraduate thesis entitled: “An Analysis of Reiteration on Students' writing of the Eleventh Graders at MAN 2 Tulang Bawang Barat”.

Research Questions

This research is expected to be able to provide benefits to teachers discussing by providing access to information about the phenomenon of using repetition in writing. For the next researcher this research is one of the alternative references regarding the use or repetition in writing. The other researcher can take evidence of the problem of problems related to using the impact of repetition in writing.

Prior Research

Purposes of Writing

According to Miller, to make writing interesting, it is important to pay attention to the content to be delivered and to whom the writing is directed. In addition, it not only gives knowledge to the readers, but writing is also a way to properly convey or explain the writing with an easy understanding. Moreover, the knowledge that students have is not necessarily the same as that of readers, so not many readers find it difficult to understand the writing.12 In addition, students must also ensure that they can understand the message contained in the writing.

Process of Writing

Additionally, the time at this stage of drafting is more focused on expressing ideas and the technical parts of writing, namely; spelling, use of expressions or language structure. At this stage, revision is the stage of reviewing what needs to be deleted, added or reduced in writing. The editing stage is the stage where one begins to pay attention to the choice of words, whether it is too many repetitions, wrong or.

According to Hart and Haines, it is necessary in English writing to avoid repetition of the same word so that monotony does not occur by replacing the same with the use of pronoun and common word.24. Repetition of an item in the form of a synonym means it has the same meaning but with different words Generalization. Repetition means to repeat the same item or word mentioned before in a text.

Repetition can be a word that is repeated in the same sentence or different sentences or different paragraphs. When the same word or phrase is placed at the end of consecutive sentences, epiphora or epiphoric repetition is a form of repetition. It is not the same word repeated in the root-repetition, but the same root.

Synonymous repetition is not a repetition of the same word, but with its synonym, one word or phrase is repeated. The term 'synonymous' is used in semantics to refer to the main type of sensory relationship between lexical items that has almost the same meaning. It means that the inflected and derived variations also have the same item and meaning.

The researcher in pronouncing words that contain the same meaning does not use synonyms of the word, but uses the exact same word repeatedly.

Data Resources

Data Collection Technique

In addition, the data are needed to substantiate the divergent arguments in research findings.36 Before conducting research, the researcher must first understand what data is needed. The researcher took documents of the results of the use of recurrence values ​​in pupils'. According to Creswell, observation is a method of gathering unlimited first-hand knowledge by observing people and locations at a research site.37 The process of observation took place by reference to the research questions.

During the observation process in a study, the researcher observed the students' analytical writing task. Interview occurs when a researcher asks general questions to the person in question and records the answers given by the person in question.38 This means that questions and answers between two parties, namely researcher and teacher, in order to obtain data, information or opinions about a substance. The interviews in this study were conducted by the researcher to one teacher and consist of six questions related to students' difficulties in using repetition.

In this study, the documentation aims to obtain data by studying documents that cover all the data needed for research. In addition, documentation was used as an attempt to obtain data on data completeness at MAN 2 Tulang Bawang Barat to obtain data on vision, mission, history of school institution, school. As a result, the researcher took several documents, including the results of writing to students related to repetition.

Data Analysis Technique

Description of Research Location

Semula Madrasah tersebut merupakan Madrasah swasta dibawah naungan Yayasan Pendidikan Islam Amanah yaitu Madrasah Aliyah Amanah yang berdiri pada tanggal 1 Juli 1988 di atas tanah wakaf seluas 5.000 M2 yang terletak di kawasan RT/RK 01/04 Desa Kibang Budi Jaya, Bone Kabupaten Lampung Utara Tengah Bawah. Seiring berkembangnya wilayah kabupaten, maka wilayah tersebut menjadi Desa Kibang Budi Jaya, Kecamatan Lambu Kibang, Kabupaten Tulang Bawang. Selanjutnya pada tahun 2005 Madrasah tersebut menjadi Madrasah Aliyah Negeri Kibang Budi Jaya yang terletak di wilayah RW/RT 03/10 Kelurahan Kibang Budi Jaya Kecamatan Lambu Kibang Kabupaten Tulang Bawang Barat.. pada awal tahun 2015, MAN Kibang Budi Jaya berganti nama menjadi MAN 2 Tulang Bawang Barat sampai sekarang.

The vision of MAN 2 Tulang Bawang Barat is the realization of a qualitative and religious madrasah. Furthermore, the documents with infrastructure data, educator and educator personnel data, teacher data and administrative data of MAN 2 Tulang Bawang Barat can be found in the appendices.

Description of Research Result

Based on the result of the observation, it is examined that there are 61 repetitions of 66 repetitions in the writing of the students. Therefore, three types of repetition were analyzed in the students' writing, including anaphora, epiphora and root repetition. Meanwhile, the types of repetition not found in the students' writing include anadiplosis, framing, chain repetition, and synonymous repetition.

Furthermore, it is investigated that there are three synonyms, two superordinates of 66 repetitions in the students' writing. Yet, based on the result of observation, common words are not found in the students' writing. The data result of observation sheet related to the most common type of repetition investigated in the students' writing skill of the eleventh graders at MAN 2 Tulang Bawang Barat is provided in Appendix 9.

Repetition management problems analyzed in eleventh grade students' writing at MAN 2 Tulang Bawang Barat. The researcher used an interview with an English teacher to analyze the barriers to mastery of repetition analyzed in students' writing. Students' difficulty in expressing superordinate words with the same meaning is a lack of vocabulary.

Students' difficulties in using general words for words with the same meaning is the lack of vocabulary.

Discussion

Based on the results of the iterview with the teacher, it can be concluded that the difficulties of students in using repetition in writing include poor vocabulary, incomprehension of word classes and word choice, and inability to develop words in writing . Therefore, repetition is the most common type of repetition studied in the writing skills of the students of the eleventh graders of MAN 2 Tulang Bawang Barat, especially in the epiphora type.

The Difficulties of Reiteration Mastery Analized in the Students’

The researcher does not use generic words in the repetition process to repeat words that have the same meaning.

Suggestion

Second, it is recommended that the English teachers help students to understand repetitions, motivate students to increase vocabulary, and guide students to concentrate more in writing practice by using grammatical concepts and word choices. The last one suggests that the school leader supports teachers and students to become more intensive in developing English learning activity by providing infrastructure and giving students meaningful activities.

The most frequent type of repetition investigated in the writing of eleventh grade students in MAN 2 Tulang Bawang Barat.
