The Nature of NarrativeText

The main purpose of narrative text is to entertain readers and engage them in a magical experience. Generally, it can be categorized into fictional narrative or imaginary, non-fictional narrative or a combination of both. A fictitious narrative can like stories of fairy tales, folktales, horror stories, fables, legends, myths and science fiction.

The stages in narrative text are: a) orientation that introduces the participants and informs the time and where the story takes place, b) complication that describes the ascending cries that participants have to do between the participants' relationship in a process of social interaction, and c) resolution showing the way of the participants to resolve the cries, d) coda summarizing the point of the story and the moral message we can get. In addition, here are language features of narrative text: a) the use of process verbs; 'she said', b) use of the past tense, c) use of conjunctions; then , before, soon etc. d) use of adjective and adverb.

The Concept of Cohesive Devices

  • Definition of Cohesion
  • Definition of Cohesive Devices
  • Types of Cohesive Devices

Based on the explanation above, it can be concluded that coherent units are relational coherence characterized by the use of formal tools in the form of linguistic forms. It has been argued by Halliday and Hasan classified cohesion into: (1) grammatical cohesive devices, they are reference substitution, ellipsis and conjunction; and (2) lexical cohesive devices which are in the form of repetition and collocation.18. In the fourth and final type of cohesion, the relationship that we find in grammar is conjunction.

They are not primarily tools for learning in the presence of other components in discourse. It means that metonymy is about substituting words in the text that the words relate to the object being conveyed. The second type of lexical cohesion deals with the relationships between words based on the fact that these often occur in the same environment.

Definition of Error Analysis

Based on the assumption of all the experts above, the writer can conclude that error analysis is a process of determining the incidence, causes and consequences done by human beings, especially in this study is that students find some errors.

Procedure of Error Analysis

In this last step, after analyzing the error sentence in the table, the researcher explains the result of the more complex error.
