34;The programs prepare members for careers in agriculture and agro-industry by teaching technical skills, as well as communication and leadership skills. Every college student should have the added benefit of FFA membership.”. 34;Our membership growth is due in part to the 10-PLUS program and 100 percent recognition that started this year,” Herndons said. The chapter advisor simply emails the completed membership roster, and if the roster contains 10 or more members than the previous year, the chapter will receive a 10-PLUS.
This pennant, the only one awarded by FFA that is gold rather than blue, can be proudly displayed in the vo-ag classroom and at FFA meetings. The membership president or chapter president receives a gold 100% membership cap and may be ordered by the entire chapter to display this honor. 34;The first way to increase FFA membership is to get all freshmen on the membership list. FFA is part of their instruction, so they have to be active.
Chapters should maintain interest in chapter activities to keep students engaged as they progress through vo-ag. The Dorman FFA Chapter of Spartanburg, South Carolina, combined these three methods to be the first chapter in 1980 to send out their 10-PLUS list. They are now helping to promote the program nationwide as 11 members of their chapter appear on the membership poster attached to each 1981-82 chapter membership list.

It helped me mature a lot. I was called to speak at banquets and to discuss matters with some of the country's stop breeders."
34;Most Angus breeders are willing to sell me their better animals because they know I will put them in my show line. Then I advertise the quality of their cattle and my own herd,” explains Scot. We also had a first and second place winner in the state. FFA remains an official first, but a unique position in the state Department of Agriculture provides the president with invaluable and hard-to-find experience in Mississippi agriculture. The agency directs state presidents to conduct promotional work around the state, meeting thousands of Mississippians and explaining the operations and products of the state's agriculture. Johnny Allen, now an agriculture teacher in Mississippi, was one of the first presidents to work for the state while in office.
