The FFA chapter is off to a great start with 100 percent of the agricultural education students FFA members. Students from the Vernon pre-ag classes divided one plot into five sections and another into three. They did all the work, plowing, planting, fertilizing, applying herbicides, harvesting and measuring the results of different products and conditions. In addition to using Vernon vo-ag equipment, they received the use of herbicide broadcast implements from S & K Farms and planting equipment provided by the Wade Hall farm.

Since a truck of that year and model has never been shown at an antique show, the actual value of the chapter truck is unknown. According to Terry Metcalfe, president of the Hobson Chapter, their chapter is participating in the National. FFA WEA program because it provides an educational and cultural experience for the exchange students while giving them the opportunity to learn firsthand about American agriculture.

The WEA FFA program also provides opportunities for the same type of work experience for FFA members who wish to live in another state. Aaron Miller continued to serve actively as vice president of his Modesto, California chapter despite the physical cast and was named this year's junior project winner. Chapter officers traveled to Aaron's farm every month for chapter executive committee meetings.

Huntley, Illinois, FFA tried a new event this year to add a spark to their chapter's FFA WEEK activities. The breakfast was well received and the businessmen are now thinking about another one and the possibility of organizing a Businessmen's Association.
