DISTANCE RIDING
The horses' pulse and respiration (P&R) values are an important criterion in the judging of both types of riding and help determine which horses may remain in the competition and which must be eliminated. However, the horse and rider team will be out of sight of the judges for most of either a duration or competition, and it will be the results rather than the appearance of the rider's leadership that will be judged. If the latter is determined, it may be that the horse was not sufficiently conditioned before the trip, or that the rider is simply asking for high speed.
Regardless of the reason, failure to recover to acceptable levels at the vet examination disqualifies the horse. Distance riding is friendly because it allows the rider to realize how much they are learning and improving in the skill of distance riding. Local citizen radio groups are extremely helpful in monitoring cyclists during the event when they use the ride for radio practice.

One of the South Habersham Chapter's major projects this past year was building a rustic fence around the front of the room. They became so interested in showing their bulls that they helped start their own local show. “We exhibited nine steers this year, and many of the boys brought their animals all the way from the local, state and district levels to the state competition in Athens,” Mr Griffeth said.
This was the first time it showed the formation of the students and most of them came home with prize money. .. ple, all their animals placed in the top three of their classes.
