Improving students' reading comprehension through the Neurological Impress (N.I.M) method in the eighth grade of MTS Muhammadiyah BAntaeng". The purpose of this research was to know the improvement of students' reading comprehension.

The research findings indicated that the teaching of reading comprehension by means of neurological impression method and after evaluation in cycle I and cycle. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that improving the students' reading comprehension through neurological impression method (N.I.M) in case of literal and interpretive comprehension.

The research realized that many people had provided their helpful suggestion for the completion of this thesis. Particularly to my husband, who gave support and love from the first semester to the completion of this thesis.

In syllabus of KTSP of Junior High School (2010) in the eighth grade, it states that the curriculum of education expects students to be able to understand reading texts. This confirms that one of the basic skills that must be mastered by the students is reading comprehension. As the explanation above, the researcher will use Neurological Impression Method (N.I.M) to improve the students' reading ability, especially in reading comprehension.

It can help students to express their ideas and can be able to understand the text or material they are reading. At that school, students still lack the ability to express their own ideas through reading. How is the improvement of students' interpretation comprehension focused on finishing the reading comprehension of the eighth grade of Mts Muhammadiyah Bantaeng through the use of Neurological Impress Method.

The improvement of students' literal comprehension focuses on the main idea in reading comprehension through the use of Neurological Impress Method on the eighth grade of Mts Muhammadiyah Bantaeng. The improvement of students' interpretation comprehension focuses on finishing the reading comprehension through the use of Neurological Impress Method on the eighth grade of Mts Muhammadiyah Bantaeng.

Instead of the patient hearing her own voice reflected, as in the stuttering research, she listened to the voice of an experienced reader and tried to "echo" the experienced reader as her eyes followed the words across the page. The teacher should participate in the selection of reading materials, making sure that they are easy for the student (low vocabulary books with high interest are recommended). The main idea of the text is exactly what the name means the main massage.

The main idea is the most important piece of information the author wants you to know about the concept of the paragraph. An author organizes each paragraph's main idea and supporting details in support of the theme or center, and each paragraph supports the paragraph that precedes it. So the main idea can be stated at the beginning, middle or end of the paragraph.

FINDINGS AND DISCUSSION

This means (63.95%) that there is an improvement in students' literal understanding, but this is considered to be fairly good, so the researcher decides to organize cycle II. Grade II. of the cycle was higher than in the first cycle (75.95% > 63.95%), rated as good, which means that there was an improvement in students' reading comprehension. It means that students gain progress even though a was still rated as fair.

This means that there was an improvement in the students' literal understanding (32.0%) and the target can be reached. This means (64.15%) that there was an improvement in the students' reading comprehension, but it is classified as fair, so the researcher decides to organize cycle II. The improvement of the students' increase in reading comprehension In the second grade students of VIII class of Mts Muhammadiyah Bantaeng by means of Neurological Impress Method as a result of table 1 and table 2.

It means that there has been an improvement in students' reading comprehension, but this is classified as fair, so the researcher decides to organize cycle II. After applying the Neurological Impress Method in cycle I and cycle II, the result of students' achievement of detailed information is significantly improved. The above result proves that the use of Impress Neurological Method was able to improve students' detailed information in reading comprehension.

After applying the Neurological Impress Method in Cycle II, the student's conclusion score is higher than that of Diagnostic - Test, and from Cycle I, with the student's conclusion in Cycle II being 45.83%.

Table 1: The Students’ Improvement in Literal Reading Comprehension
Table 1: The Students’ Improvement in Literal Reading Comprehension

After the application of Neurological Impression Method in cycle II, the result of students' prediction was higher than diagnostic test and cycle I where the students' prediction of outcome performance in cycle II was 4.17% categorized as very good, 66.67% as good and 29.16% were categorized. categorized as fairly good, while in cycle I was lower than cycle II where the students' prediction performance in cycle I was 25.00% categorized as fairly good, 62.5% as fair and 12.5% as poor. But the result of Diagnostic test was the lowest where the students' prediction performance is categorized 29.17% as fair, 70.83% as poor, and none of the students for the other classification. This can be proved by the result of findings of the students' literal reading comprehension which deals with main ideas and detail information, interpretive comprehension which makes conclusions and prediction.

Based on the result of the data analysis through the reading test, it appears that the students' literal understanding of reading has not increased the term of the main idea. The researcher found that the average score of the main idea in cycle 1 was 63.95% and it was still far from the target score that the researcher wants to achieve. Finally, this average score of students is reading comprehension is (63.95%) that there has been an improvement of students' literal comprehension, but this is classified as quite good, so the researcher decides to organize cycle II.

Grade II. of the cycle was higher than I. (75.95% > 63.95%) was assessed as good, which means that there was an improvement of the students. The result of the data analysis with the reading test shows that the students' interpretive reading comprehension did not increase in the term of completion in the 1st cycle. The neurological impression method can improve students' verbatim reading in terms of main ideas.

This is proven because students in Cycle I still do not understand how to determine the main idea. This cycle was successful and most of the students got the minimum standard of English subject (7.0) in the eight grade students at Mts Muhammadiyah Bantaeng. Neurological impress method can improve students' literal interpretive reading comprehension during the conclusion.

This is proven because the students in cycle I still do not understand how to conclude the material. Students are expected to improve their intensity in learning to read through Neurological Impress method. The library should prepare many books related to reading comprehension to facilitate the students to increase their reading ability.

The English teacher should maximize in giving guidance to the students in the learning and teaching reading process. Unpublished master's thesis, Central Washington State College, Gardner, C., The Experimental Use of the Impress Method of Reading Habilitation (Co-op Reading Project No. S167).

CONCLUSION AND SUGGESTION

The English teacher should apply Neurological Impression as one of the methods of reading comprehension, and pay attention to the interesting method in teaching to make students interested in learning English, especially teaching reading for understanding.
