Larva.
Head
rounded, slightly bilobed, shining black, with pale secondary hairs onthelowerparts of the sides.Body
subcylindrical, uniform; a subdorsalrow
of short papillae. Black; a large white dorsal saddle on joints 8 and 9, incised before, the points runningdown
to the spiracle on joint 8;two rows
of round red spots, stig- matally andsubventrally.Food plant: Anona.

strongly bilobed, each lobe withalong apical horn with short, irregular branches;head
shining black, with several smallinconspicuous horns especially laterally, all these as well at the large apical horn, pale yellow.Body

of spinose processes, each process with a straight shaftand
three or four branches, collected into a subapical crown;joints2 hasonly a small subdorsal process; onjoints 3 and4 are
two
rows, subdorsal andlateral; on 5to12, three rows; onjoint13, a sub- dorsal pair only; all theprocesses paired.Body
black, the processes contrastinglightyellow; laterally on eachsegment
anteriorly anoval dale yellow patch, small on joints 2 to 4, largeon 5to 12, none on joint13.Eunica modesta Bates.

angularly bilobed,roughened
with conical secondary tubercles bearing pale seise; pale orange color, abroad blackband
acrossthe mouth, withirregularupper
border, reaching nearlytotheapex
of clypeus.Body
cylindrical, slender, a little enlarged at joint 12 andthe sides of joints 3; atthe enlargements are low, degenerate processes, a dorsal cone with short branches andasubdorsal pairon joint 12, a collection of lateral tubercles on joint 3, these colored black.Elsewhere
no processes aredeveloped, but thebody
isrough- ened with scattered black secondary tubercles, bearing rather long darksetae, and arrangedin transverse lines. General color dull or-ange
with alateral black band,which
widens into apatch covering the spiracle; a large cone laterally in this patch.Feet

enlarged posteriorly, subcylindrical, stout, taper- ing a little at the anal end.The
skin is covered with rather long white secondary hairs,somewhat
sparsely placed. Color black above, with large yellow spots,two
on a segment, the anterior one very large,the posteriorone small,transverse andpaler yellow.The
spots begin on joint3, but are small; large andof nearly equalsize ontheabdomen;
onlyone on joint13,rathersmall.Area below

cylindrical, tapering before and abruptly be- hind; coal-black, a little wrinkly-shagreenedand

sparse pale secondary hairs; spines light yellow.The
spines are in fourrows
on joints 2 to5; fiverows
on joint6; threerows
on joints7 to 10; fourrows on
joint 12; a single dorsal and three otherrows
on joints 13and14.The
spines are rather short, each with several long branches, tippedwith small black points; thetwo upper rows
of joints 2and
3are rather longer than the others, as are also the dorsal ones of 13 and 14; the subventral ones are small. Feetand
leg-shields shiningblack.Food plant:

cylindrical, the feet large.Warts
large, iv rather smaller than the others, but i about as large as ii;onelarge
wart
onlyonjoints 3 and4abovethestigmatal wart. Hairs dense, fine, silky brown, rather long and longer at the extremities.Dull brown, shaded with blackish, especiallyin obscuredorsal, lateral, and stigmatal lines, this
marking
largely an effect of the darker spaces between.thedullpale reddishwarts. Joint4 is lighterthrough- out. joints 5and 11 are dark, theirwarts
largely black; joint 12isa littlelight also, while 3, 6, and 13 aresomewhat
darkened, giving the dark and lightbanded
effect usual in the pericopid larvae, although here the contrastisnotmarked. Feet and leg-shieldsdark brown.NOCTUID^.

broken lateral band; ared-filled substigmatal band; bases of the feet mottled with whiteand
with white patches around the spiracle of joint 12.Between

ings the skin isdotted with black and red.Feet

the lappet- warts andin small groups subdorsally; dorsal patches of shortcrim- son hairsinwhich
the white subdorsal clusters arise. Thoracicfeet yellow-white; outersides of theabdominal feet also ofthis color.The
cocooniswhite, andtheshortcrimson hairsare thrustthroughit inirregular patches.
