Organic Food is a food produced using natural methods of farming without using chemical fertilizers, herbicides, or pesticides. Organic foods are processed only using organic methods and not in industries or using genetic engineering techniques. Usually organic foods are priced higher than non-organic foods, organic food has grown significantly since the late 20th century but some people tend to disregard the higher price of organic foods for their nutritional benefits. Organic foods also have a lot of benefits as they do not use harmful pesticides and fertilizers to increase their yield. Organic foods include fresh produce, meats, dairy products, and processed foods such as drinks, frozen meals, and many more.
Organic foods are produced using a system of ecosystem management and not external agricultural inputs. It considers the environmental impacts of the methods and therefore does not include the use of any synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, veterinary drugs, genetically modified seeds, or preservatives. Organic foods are very often locally grown foods. Even though now organic food is available at supermarkets, there is some additional benefit of buying it from your local markets. Directly buying from a small scale farmer will help them financially. Also, you get fresh produce straight from the farms without any added preservative or synthetic chemicals.
At this time, health is very important to maintain. One way to maintain health is to consume foods that have many benefits. Organic food can be food that is consumed to meet food needs and sources of nutrients for the body. when compared to non-organic food, organic food has a relatively more expensive price. However, I think this is very reasonable and acceptable because organic food has more benefits than non-organic food. This production process without pesticides or chemicals on organic food makes it produce more antioxidants, lower resistance bacteria, higher micronutrients such as minerals, Vitamin C, zinc, and iron, and of course, most importantly safe for the environment.
Organic food is more beneficial than non-organic food for children because they are expected to be more susceptible to pesticides, and compared to adults, consume more of their food for their body weight. During their growth period, children need to consume foods that will support their growth because it will have an impact on their health and body development. Most of the chemicals used in traditional agriculture have been observed to cause asthma, behavioral or learning disorders, and childhood cancers such as leukemia.
There are several reasons why organic food is more expensive than non-organic food, including; The official certification fee for a farm to be certified organic is expensive, for example in the US it costs between $750 and $1,250 for the first year, and farmers have to pay an annual inspection and recertification fee. Agricultural land for organic matter is a special field because growing organic standard crops means you spend more time and money tending the land on your farm. Then organic food production moves on a small scale, organic
fruit and vegetables are usually handled in small quantities because organic and non-organic products have to be processed, shipped and stored separately from each other. And finally, the demand for organic food is increasing with less quantity of organic food available for sale, demand is generally higher than supply, which can increase costs.
Organic foods have environmental and nutritional benefits that have been proven by several studies. Agricultural systems that have a good impact on protecting nature and reducing pollution of nature with chemicals. For example, using crop rotation farming practices, intercrop farming to keep the soil rich in nutrients and prevent soil erosion.
Agriculture It can also reduce pollution because chemical fertilizers and pesticides used in agriculture can seep down to contaminate groundwater. Having many benefits for the body and the environment can certainly be an attraction to this organic food even though the price is more expensive, the demand for organic food will increase, which will lead to an increase in organic farming practices.
