There are five factors in the life of the church that made this project necessary. 14Will McRaney Jr., The Art of Personal Evangelism: Sharing Jesus in a Changing Culture (Nashville: Broadman & Holman Publishers, 2003), 1. O'Brien, Salvation to the Ends of the Earth: A Biblical Theology of Mission (Downers Grove ) , IL: InterVarsity Press, 2001), 25.

Israel was to be the light of the nations and the mediator of God's blessing. In the four Gospels there is an aspect of Christ's commission to the disciples. Finally, let the church spread to all the ends of the earth until all people hear the witness.

The goal of the church is to continue God's plan of salvation and achievement. The goal of the Country Life movement was to improve social conditions in rural areas of America. At the end of the eighteenth century and the beginning of the nineteenth century, one event helped shape the church in America—the Second Great Awakening.

The sermon, titled "The Commandment," which used Luke 24:46-49 as its passage, showed that Jesus' commands were clear and must be obeyed. The thesis of the lesson was: "If we want to live on a mission for God, we must overcome fears, including prejudices." The lesson taught different ideas of neighborliness and to be a neighbor one must be kind to everyone. A lesson related to the sermon entitled "Overcoming Prejudice." The text of the sermon was Acts 10:34-48.

Overcoming Rejection" and the thesis was, "Rejection of the gospel message is a rejection of the gospel, not what the gospel represents." The thesis of the lesson was “There is no set standard way to do evangelism; Just tell the gospel.” The point of the lesson was to show that there are several different styles of sharing the gospel, but no set method. In conjunction with the sermon, an evangelism report was created for the members.1 The idea of the evangelism report was to help hold everyone accountable in his/her evangelism practice.

The text of the lesson was Luke 14:25-33 and was titled "Strategy." The thesis of the lesson was: "Nothing should hold us back from doing as Jesus has commanded us." The second short answer question was, "How do you get saved and what role does church membership play in salvation?" The responses of the participants said that a person is saved by accepting Jesus as savior or accepting his call to salvation. The fifth question was "What is evangelism?" The general answer to the question was to share or spread the gospel message to unbelievers at home or abroad.

Question number 6 was "What is the difference between mission and missions." The answers to this question varied. The seventh short answer question was "What is a missionary lifestyle?" The answers to this question revolved around three ideas: seizing or seeking opportunities, sharing the gospel message, and living the gospel message. Someone said that mission is a "specific project for Christ" and that mission is the "general attitude of sharing Christ through word and deed." Another participant said that mission is "something you are engaged in (i.e. a quest)" and missions is "going out purposefully to tell/share God's love".

Proclaiming the gospel in the way I live and treat others.” Another participant said, “To live for Christ in all areas of life (home, work, church and community) so that you can be distinguished from the world by the promise of God's glory and pointing others to Christ.” The polls were similar to the definition of missionary life given during the eight-week series, living unencumbered and telling the gospel message to all people all the time. The church will need the knowledge gained during the project to assist in replanting efforts.3 The replanting vision statement is: “We envision ourselves as a community within a community for the glory of Christ.” The mission statement is “New Salem builds community with discipleship, service and worship for the glory of Christ." A typical time frame for replanting is 3 to 5 years. Another benefit of the project was the linking of the Sunday school curriculum and the sermon series.

Would Do Differently

The reflection I think is the most important for me and this project is a theology of the rural church. I want to look at the theology of the rural church because the context of this project was in rural southwest Missouri. The population of the United States is now majority urban, and it is the rural church that must respond to the call to reach cities.

The project's hope was to revive the church, but the project is heading for ruin. This panel evaluated the plan for the communication process, the functionality of the plan, the training required and the effectiveness of the plan. The evangelistic record was given to the members of the New Salem Baptist Church in week 6 of the project to help them account to each other and record/report any records.

Two church facilities are also within two miles of the church, Cross Bar Cowboy Church and Grace Bible Baptist Church. Changes to the budget include: No purchases can be made with the church's money without prior approval from a majority of the church's members. A couple of times in the life of the church, the organization almost disintegrated, once in the early twentieth century and once in the 1940s.

NSBC's legacy cannot be a church that focused on its members' priorities and preferences and ignored the larger community. As fellowship takes shape within the church, the fellowship will extend to within the two-mile radius of the church.3 As noted above, we envision to be fellowship within the local community for the glory of Christ. 3The two-mile radius around the meetinghouse is considered NSBC's immediate community.

Another part of the discipleship process will be community groups within the homes of church members. Community cannot be built if church members remain within the confines of the building and grounds. The worship of the church should be a shadow of what is to come as promised in Revelation 7:9-10.

The listed goals and objectives for the first three years of the replanting are flexible and can be updated as needed. The goal of the ministry plan is to see dry bones live, a community impacted and Christ glorified.
