IUPUI is Indiana's premier urban public research university.

Offering more than 250 degrees in 21 schools, IUPUI is Indiana's most comprehensive university.

The campus has a health and life sciences focus, with a medical school and a nursing school among the largest in the nation.

The campus awards degrees from both Purdue University and Indiana University.

The campus has an annual budget of $1.2 billion.

IUPUI offers an affordable top quality education – cost of full time undergraduate in-state attendance per year (tuition and general fees): $6,434; out of state: $19,668.

The IUPUI Jaguars participate in Division I athletics.

Research

IUPUI researchers attracted just over $400 million in grants and awards for research funding in 2009-2010, a jump of nearly 40 percent over the previous year. - view graph

The campus includes about 100 research centers, including 27 Signature Centers.

1667 research grants were awarded in 2008.

The IU Research and Technology Corporation, located near the IUPUI campus, oversees intellectual property at Indiana University. Through license agreements, patent applications and assisting faculty with startup companies, the IURTC has housed over 30 companies, graduated 13 clients, and created over 370 Hoosier jobs, at an average salary of $61,000.

In fiscal year 2009, IUPUI investigators disclosed 94 inventions. Twenty companies entered into license agreements for IUPUI inventions, and 93 patent applications were filed on IUPUI inventions.

Innovate Indiana is the name for Indiana University’s efforts to channel the university’s vast resources to strengthen the Hoosier economy. The Office of the Vice President for

Engagement is the central point of contact for Innovate Indiana. The office is:

Civic Engagement

Service learning classes, faculty and student participation, hours contributed, and community partnerships have increased dramatically as a result of ongoing initiatives, including new student scholarships and faculty professional development efforts designed to double service learning at IUPUI. In 2008-2009, more than 90,000 hours of service were donated to community partners. - view graph

IUPUI has received numerous awards for community service, including being named a

"Savior of our Cities" and receiving the President's Higher Education Community Service Award for Excellence in General Community Service.

Education

Academic options are comprehensive, offering more than 250 degrees from 21 schools.

IUPUI has top-ranked programs in schools such as Nursing, Public and Environmental Affairs, Business, and Law.

In 2009, the IUPUI Honors College was founded.

Honors Professional Admissions Program was launched in 2009.

The campus offers unique new academic programs, such as motorsports engineering, philanthropic studies, biomedical engineering, and forensic science.

Faculty

More than 2,500 faculty in 21 schools provide the basis for IUPUI’s quality educational programs.

Over 90% of full-time faculty have professional or doctoral degrees.
