Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) is the ability to think critically, logically, reflectively, metacognitively and creatively which is a high-level thinking ability. Students' perception must be based on knowing that the student is the object of the learning process. So, the researcher conducts research titled Students' Perception towards Higher Order Thinking Skills Used by English Teacher.

Based on the above background, the researcher is interested in conducting research titled “Students’ Perception Toward Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) Used by English Teachers in SMA Negeri 2 Wajo”. Based on the above background, the researcher formulates the following problem statement: What is the students' perception of higher order thinking skills (HOTS) used by English teacher at SMA Negeri 2 Wajo. Based on the problem statement above, the particular study aimed to find out students' perception of higher order thinking skills (HOTS) used by English teacher at SMA Negeri 2 Wajo.

This study is expected to increase the knowledge of the researcher about the concept of higher order thinking skills. In this study, the researcher focuses on the students' perception towards higher order thinking skills (HOTS), namely the analysis, evaluation and creation of what is used by English teachers in learning.

  • The Concept of Higher Order Thinking Skills

The process of acceptance or reabsorption is an indicator of perception in the physiological phase; it deals with the function of the five senses in grasping external stimuli. According to Wikipedia, higher order thinking, known as higher order thinking skills (HOTS), is a concept of educational reform based on learning taxonomies (such as Bloom's taxonomy). Higher order thinking involves teaching complex judgment skills such as critical thinking and problem solving.

Furthermore, Kuswana argued that higher order thinking involves critical and creative thinking guided by ideas of truth, each of which has meaning. Based on some of these opinions, it can be concluded that Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) is the ability to think that it is not just remembering, repeating and also referring without processing, but the ability to think critically and creatively about think about information. creative and able to solve problems. Speaking of higher-order thinking skills, Bloom's taxonomy can be used as the main basis.

The process of organizing occurs when students build systematic and coherent relationships between pieces of information. Remembering, understanding, and applying are considered lower-order thinking skills, and analysing, evaluating, and creating are considered higher-order thinking skills.

  • Data Collection
  • Data Analysis

Students' perceptions of higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) used by an English teacher in analyzing. Students' perceptions of the higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) used by the English teacher at the first level were analyzed by those collected in the first part. Student perceptions of higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) used by English teachers in assessment.

Students' perceptions of higher order thinking skills (HOTS) used by English teacher at the second level evaluated those collected in the second part. The students' perception towards higher order thinking skills (HOTS) used by English teacher to create. Students' perceptions towards higher order thinking skills (HOTS) used by English teacher at the third level created those collected in the third part.

It indicates that students show great interest in the fact that higher order thinking skills (HOTS) are important to apply in the learning process. The aim of the study was to know the students' perception of the implementation of higher order thinking skills (HOTS) used by the teacher in learning. The above questionnaire was designed to know the students' perception of the teacher's implementation of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) in learning, in this case how students can analyse, evaluate and create new ideas in the learning process.

As Mitri (2016) said that to build higher-order thinking skills in students, the most appropriate strategy used in learning activities is the inquiry strategy. Then, to build higher-order thinking skills in students, the most appropriate learning model to use was problem-based learning (PBL). This means that the application of learning based on higher order thinking skills can improve students' ability to analyze information or problems encountered in learning activities.

Learning based on higher order thinking skills will be very useful for students because in the 2013 curriculum, students are expected to have higher order thinking skills. This means that learning based on higher order thinking skills has a lot of impact on students' learning outcomes, such as they are trained to be able to process information that they already have. know with new information that can then draw your own conclusions. The eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 2 Wajo had a positive perception of the higher order thinking skills used by the English teacher.

FINDINGS AND DISSCUSSION

Disscussion

In the learning process, teachers can guide and build students' higher order thinking skills by applying the right strategies, models and methods to make students focus so that students are able to develop higher order thinking skills in themselves. Through the PBL model, students were expected to solve problems in learning. So, the efforts that can be made by the teacher to stimulate and promote student activity in thinking are through group discussion activities, questions and answers, and providing certain questions to be solved together, then the teacher can give students the opportunity to respond or provide input and critique on what has been learned.

Thus students not only have the ability to memorize something from the material that has been given, but students are also able to analyze, evaluate and then create new things about the material learned. As we know, in higher order thinking skills there are three levels, namely analyzing, evaluating and creating new things in the form of ideas that have never been found before. The evaluation category includes the cognitive process of reviewing decisions made based on internal criteria and criticizing decisions made based on external criteria.

Assessment can enable students to be able to express opinions or critique information received through friends or other sources. Because they are used to finding information on their own, students will also be able to pick and choose which ones to pick up and which ones not to. Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) is the ability to think that is not just remembering, reframing and also referencing without processing, but the ability to think about information critically, creatively and able to solve problems.

Higher order thinking is more difficult to learn or teach, but also more valuable because such skills are more likely to be useful in new situations. Although students show that the application of higher-order thinking skills in learning activities has a great influence on their learning outcomes, the teacher's role is also very important in the application of higher-order thinking skills in learning. The average score of the student questionnaire is 75 which means that most of the students agree with learning based on high-level thinking skills used by English teachers.

The implementation of higher-order thinking skills by the teacher has a significant impact on student learning outcomes, namely that students can practice their ability to analyze new information and relate it to information they already have, which they later re-evaluate and combine to create new things. which are different from the previous ones. The English teacher at SMA Negeri 2 Wajo must use methods and strategies suitable for higher-order thinking skills-based learning so that the learning goals of the 2013 curriculum, which enable students to have more thinking skills than normal, can be achieved.
