HISTORY OF YOGYAKARTA
Yogyakarta ([yogYk/t )is named after the Indian city of Ayodhya, the birthplace of the eponymous hero Rama from
the Ramayana epic. Yogya means "suitable; fit; proper", and karta means "prosperous; flourishing".
Thus, Yogyakarta means "a city that is fit to prosper".
Sejarah Yogyakarta:
Yogyakarta ([yogYk/t ) dinamai menurut kota Ayodhya di India,
tempat kelahiran pahlawan eponymous Rama dari epos Ramayana.
Yogya berarti "cocok; layak", dan karta berarti "makmur;
berkembang". Jadi, Yogyakarta berarti "kota yang layak sejahtera".

The city of Yogyakarta is located between 110°24'19"-110°28'53" East Longitude and between 07°15'24"-07°49'26" South Latitude.
While the city spreads in all directions from the Kraton, the Sultan's palace, the core of the modern city is to the north, centred around Dutch colonial-era buildings and the commercial district.
