Analyse/Evaluate the result of visualisation above, what would you say about the Pressure Altimeter test. Describe your explanation below:

Altimeter is used to determine the height of the aircraft against a runway or the height of the aircraft against sea level. Apart from being used to measure the height of an aircraft above the earth's surface during approach and landing, it is also a component of the warning system to avoid collisions with the earth's surface. To warn the pilot that the aircraft is flying too low or that there is a towering surface in front of the aircraft.

The higher the altitude, the less the air pressure. Different air pressures at different heights use an altimeter to show changes in altitude. Altimeters are designed to calculate the altitude of an aircraft above the ground or above sea level. Simply put, an altimeter is a metal barometer that reads not in pressure units but in feet.

The pressure measured on the altimeter comes from the pressure entering through the static port. Then the pressure is calibrated and will produce the altitude of the aircraft against sea level or the ground.

The altimeter can be set, to determine the pressure or altitude the aircraft is at. If not set in advance, the reading on the altimeter will be wrong and not in accordance with the actual, therefore before the aircraft starts to take off it is required to make adjustments to the altimeter.

Write one or more paragraph of what you think after doing this task:

For the altimeter that we checked, it is currently not working properly, there is a lot of damage to the casing such as scretch, even for the scale pointer needle there is only 1 left which makes the altimeter this time unusable. but with this we can see the components of the components in the altimeter.

Disassembly Of Altimeter

(6)

To find out the inner workings of the altimeter, the first thing we have to do is disassembly. Things that need to be prepared for disassembly are screwdrivers. The disassembly process is as follows:

1. start by opening each screw on the altimeter using a screwdriver 2. Remove the top of the altimeter cover, glass, and seal.

3. open the screw on the indication scale.

4. Remove each needle and indication scale.

5. Remove the system part which contains the aneroid capsule and mechanical links.

The function of component:

1. Glass, serves as a protective indication scale so that the scale is not rotated by other things outside the altimeter.

2. Seal, serves to prevent the entry of moisture, dust, foreign particles, or other liquid substances into the component or instrument system.

(7)

pressure at a particular airport or location. This ensures that the altimeter gives the correct altitude at that location.

4. Indication scale, series of numbers that describe altitude in feet or meters above sea level.

5. Dial, a pointer that shows the actual altitude of the aircraft above sea level. The needle moves up or down as the aircraft ascends or descends, following the changes in air pressure as the altitude changes. The altimeter will show the correct number if the air conditions are suitable or equal to the standard pressure. The altimeter has a large scale ranging from 0-9 There are 3 different pointers:

- The medium length pointer is the 100-foot pointer - The shortest pointer is the 1000-foot pointer - The longest pointer is the 10,000-foot pointer.

The altimeter dial has 10 major indices numbered 0 through 9. In between each major indice are 4 minor indices. The value of these indices is dependent on the pointer being read. When reading the 100-foot pointer each minor indice equals 20 feet, each major indice equals 100 feet. When reading the 1000-foot pointer each minor indicate is equal to 200 feet, each major indice is equal to 1000 feet. When reading the 10,000-foot pointer each minor indice is equal to 2000 feet, each major indice is equal to 10,000 feet.

6. Aneroid capsule, a thin capsule made of metal that is sensitive to changes in atmospheric pressure. As the aircraft ascends or descends, the air pressure around the aircraft will change. The aneroid capsule responds to this pressure change by

expanding or contracting due to the difference in pressure inside the aneroid capsule that has been set to sea level pressure and the pressure around the aircraft. If the air around the aircraft is smaller, the aneroid capsule will expand and move the mechanical links.

7. Mechanical links, convert the change in pressure measured by the aneroid capsule into a change in altitude indicated by the needle on the indication scale. As the aneroid capsule responds to the change in pressure,

8. Container for component is the case of altimeter
