Forewings white, base of rega and extreme base of back brownish hairy; lies an elongated brownish fuscous spot. Palpi blackish, with a few white scales below, at base and around apex of median joint; terminal joint erect, slightly curved, slightly shorter than usual in the genus. Forewings elongate, narrow, rounded at apex, termen oblique, slightly convex; wdiite, densely covered with brownish hair, forming a blunt angle on the outer half of the fold, and receding very obliquely towards the basal and parietal parts of the bone;.
Hindwings white, slightly shining, ajiical fourth brownish pubescent; cilia white, with a narrow basal band of brownish hair coinciding with the dark part of the wing; underside white, with a small fuscous tinge on top. Legs whitish, heavily shaded with brownish hair; some projecting white hairs from end of posterior tibiae. The head and breast are whitish, with grayish hairy spots, especially in a band over the front of the thorax, and another over the posterior half of the tegulae.
Antenna strongly notched beyond the basal joint, the basal end of the notch being very clearly indicated by a truncated patch of scales. Forewings gray, abundantly sprinkled with brownish hair; a. in front of the slightly outwardly curved brownish fuscous fascia, at one-third of the base, is a distinct line of pale ground color, followed about in the middle by a thickened brownish fuscous spot, sometimes divided into two spots on the pale side of the discal surface;. Palpi strongly curved on back of head above; grayish white, heavily dusted with brownish dust, especially on the outer side of the middle joint.

Forewings brownish whitish, profusely sprinkled and shaded with brown ochreous or brownish brown, a few hairy scales at the extreme base of the costa and at the base of the costal and apical cilia in some specimens; cilia brown-ochre, sprinkled on the basal half with brownish brown.
The color of the forewings is somewhat variable; in some specimens the darker sprinkling across the center gives a diffuse appearance and is concentrated in two indistinct marginal spots on either side of the whorl, but in most this brownish sprinkling is evenly distributed over the surface and no markings are visible. Palpi slender, projecting about head length beyond it; .. whitish, touched with chestnut brown. Forewings white, with a greyish dust along the costal part, especially at the base; numerous greyish-brown spots of various .. sizes run in four diverging lines from the base; on the costal part above the cell there is a row of six, the penultimate of which is placed about half the length of the wing; below this series there is another, of six or seven, passing through the discal cell, and on the outer third of the wing there are two or three distinct spots above it, leading to the apical series; immediately below the fold is a third type of spots, . and four or five more along the back, forming a fourth row; .. the apical set begins on the coast at about the end of the . cell and continues along termen to tornus composed of about eleven spots; ciliafawn-color.
Forewings white, with a patch of fawn-colored scales on the costa beyond the middle, a smaller patch of the same color before the middle. Forewings grey-brown, with a series of almost imperceptible stripes along the costa, slightly oblique outwards; a small whitish spot occurs around the middle of the costa, and there are two pale spots in the costal cilia before the apex; the apical cilia have a pale line along their base, in front along the edge of a few dark fuscous scales; there is also a faint indication of a dark spot near the outer end of the fold; cilia brownish grey. Forewings pale whitish straw color, the outermost costa narrowly sprinkled with purplish-brown scales for two-thirds of the length of the wing, where the}^ forms a slight costal spot; a dorsal spot, consisting of a group of scales of the same colour, lies around the spine, and outside this the tip of the wing is thickly sprinkled with purplish-red scales, a reddish-brown shade prevailing among them; this dark scaling does not extend to the costal fimbriae, which are of the pale ground.
Forewings narrow, elongated, the costa slightly bulging near the base, apex rounded, terms oblique; whitish ochre, much cloudy and speckled with brownish fuscous, which appears in a series of costal spots of various sizes and a large mid-costal spot extending. in a slightly triangular shape relative to the lower edge of the cell, the outer edge being almost perpendicular to the dorsum; the dark color is also clearly visible along the fold, which arises at the extreme base of the costa, crosses the fold obliquely outwards and reaches almost to the back about a fifth of the way from the base, thence angling upwards towards the fold and returns to the dorsum approximately in the middle; thence again angulated upwards and continued, with more or less interruption, parallel to the terms up to the costa before the summit; a series of small dark spots along the terms; cilia whitish ocher in color, with an eyebrow-like, downy tinge running through them near their base and spreading outwards about the middle; between these dark markings the space between them is speckled with brownish fuscous; underside with a slight coppery tinge, the very pale edges speckled with brownish fuscous, a spot of the same visible through the wing at the end of the cell. Apparently related to Scardia anatomdla Large, but with a somewhat more slender and paler appearance, which also differs in the dark tint reaching to the dorsum in the center of the forewing. Forewings greyish, sprinkled with ochre, especially along the costa and beyond the center, also at the extreme base of the dorsum; single bands of dense, fuscous speckled stripes extend across the wing from costa to dorsum; the first, at about a quarter, running obliquely outward from the costa, reaches the dorsum at about a third of the base, this being more or less related to the base of the wing by dark speckles; the second, beyond the middle of the costa, tends outward toward the tornus and becomes dilated.
