Four outstanding FFA members who represent success in agricultural education were awarded the most prestigious honor bestowed by the National FFA Organization. American Star in Agri-business, American Star in Agriscience, American Star in Agricultural Placement and America Star Farmer were awarded to students who have received the American Degree, established profitable agricultural businesses or a program focused on an agricultural area, demonstrated outstanding active involvement in both FFA and their communities and have met other stringent requirements for agricultural education and leadership.

Eventually, he acquired 50 percent ownership in the dairy farm, and now this 22-year-old Marshfield FFA member has earned top honors through hard work, determination and motivation to succeed. During his junior and senior years of high school, he enrolled in the production agriculture-youth apprenticeship program and completed the I. and II. degree, which accelerated his learning of dairying and commodity marketing and agricultural business management. The summer before graduation, Griesbach's father underwent an inevitable back surgery that shifted Griesbach to overseeing the day-to-day running of the farm and cemented his role as a future farmer.
Once his father recovered, the farm continued to grow, increasing the number of cattle from 55 to more than 70 and harvesting high-quality forage. Griesbach also encouraged his father to plant a silage-specific corn hybrid to increase the digestibility and starch content of the farm's silage. Among his many other achievements, Griesbach has also exhibited his livestock at various fairs; won a skills award and was champion of career development events at the Wisconsin FFA Convention; and was named a 2007 Wisconsin Star finalist in Agricultural Placement.
After graduation, Griesbach enrolled in the two-year Farm Operation program at Mid-State Technical College in Marshfield. In the near future, he plans to complete the Farm Business and Production Program at Mid-State and purchase the farm from his parents.

Are you sure you want to farm?' Dan Griesbach of Stratford, Wisconsin, fondly remembers the question his parents always asked him. There was no doubt in Griesbach's mind that he would one day become the sixth generation of Griesbach to run his family's original 1880s dairy farm, the oldest operating dairy farm in his community. As Griesbach learned the tricks of dairy farming from his grandfather and father, his responsibilities around the family business grew.

Twelve individuals were selected this year by the national FFA organization to receive a special VIP designation. Through its sponsorship and generosity, the National FFA organization wanted to make its national convention available to viewers across the country. She serves as the National FFA Foundation's day-to-day contact at John Deere and has previously been recognized with the Honorary American FFA degree.
During the national FFA convention, the National FFA Organization recognized clubs, agencies and organizations that have contributed greatly to agricultural science education and FFA programs through the Distinguished Service Citation. For the past 63 years, the Ford Motor Company and FordMotor Company Fund have supported the National FFA Organization. One major area of support began in 1997 with the creation of the Ford Truck FFA Scholarship Program as part of the National FFA Scholarship Program.
Farm Credit has a prominent presence at youth livestock shows around the country and has sponsored member trips to the National FFA Convention. The committee heard delegates from across the country discuss what would happen if the FFA National Mall bought only American-made products. The students' voices were heard by one committee, which looked at ways to connect their opinions with the national FFA organization.
As the convention continues, so does the delegate process that helps shape the guidelines adopted by the national FFA organization. As can be seen from the recommendations to the national FFA organization and the formation of the task force meeting in November. The National FFA organization should use suggestions from 4-H, HOSA, and any other available resources to create a career development event.
Publish a set of guidelines for acceptable SAE programs on the National FFA website and in the FFA Handbook. National FFA continues to amplify student voice through the use of tools such as an Internet forum where students can submit their questions and concerns. Article 9, Section A would read: "The elected officers of the National FFA organization shall be the president, four vice presidents and the secretary, with at least one officer from each region."
