Like Onychomys torridus longicaudus, but clearerand
brighter colored, with very little dark streaking above. Resembling 0. t. pulcher, butmuch more
intensely pinkish-cinnamon. Skull as in lonqicaudus, but with anterior palatineforaminaaveraginglonger,reach- ingbackward
fully to line of fronts offirstmolars.Colorofadultinfull wintercoat: upperparts bright pinkish-cinnamon, paleston nose
and
beadand
mostintenseand
glossyon
lower backand
rump, with verylittleorno darker admixture fromthe hairtips. Under- fur dark neutral-gray; hairs with subapicalband
of buff, tipped with deep cinnamon. Ears very thinly haired,narrowlyrimmed
with brown;tufts at basescreamy-white, comparativelyinconspicuous. Nose, cheeks, lower sides, limbs, hands, feet,
and
underparts, white, the underfur narrowly neutral-gray. Tail whitish, with narrow, indistinct stripe of grayish-brownalongupperside fortwo-thirdsitslength.Measurementsof type.

hack a rich blackish- brown, the ground color pinkish-cinnamon, the overlying hairs with long blackish tipswhich streakand

almost purepinkish-cinnamon. Centerofnose gray;cinnamon
spotsatbaseof whiskers,betweenthegrayofnoseandwhiteof lips.Ear
