I also wish you a wonderful stay in charming Warsaw – the city with a fascinating history, modern architecture, visitor-friendly infrastructure and a rich offer of cultural events. However, it was also clear that our main focus should be on the on-site portion of the conference. The first surveyor organization was founded on Polish territory in 1916 under the name “The Union of Surveyors”.
Association of Polish Surveyors organized under FIG frames “The 1st International Cadastral Congress” in 1998 in Warsaw. The technologists say we are at the beginning or even the middle of the 4th Industrial Revolution.

Although many land surveying, geodetic and land administration organizations were already quite far in the digitization of data and processes at the beginning of the pandemic, the last two years have accelerated this transformation. Urban Rural Partnership is more urgent than ever in the face of an ongoing or even increasing urban-rural divide in both developed and developing countries.

The effects of plastic pollution on the Earth's oceans are well documented, potentially catastrophic and increasing exponentially year after year. The UN Environment Program has calculated that more than 8 million tons of plastic end up in the oceans every year. Eighty percent of all litter in our oceans is made of plastic and without action there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish by weight by 2050.
KRZYSZTOF BAKUŁA, DIRECTOR OF THE JOINT CONGRESS, POLAND This keynote focuses on future geospatial data visualization technologies and its role for surveyors and the role of GNSS measurements in the future. This session is the last keynote session and will give you food for thought for the future. In 1880, on the Theater Square in front of the Jabłonowski Palace, a stone pillar surrounded by an iron railing was erected with a sign indicating the geographical location and the height above sea level and the level of the Vistula.
The meridian of Warsaw passes through the top of the pillar and the top of the clock tower of the Jabłonowski Palace, which served as a measuring point. TS07B: ACCELERATED DIGITALIZATION AND THE FUTURE OF LAND ADMINISTRATION IN THE UNECE REGION AND BEYOND. This session explores the future of land administration through the lens of digital disruption and accelerated digital transformation – with a particular focus on lessons from the UNECE region.
Session participants will hear from leaders from multiple country agencies, both UNECE and globally, who will summarize these agencies' journey through the pandemic disruption, responses and where they stand today. A new FAO/FIG/WPLA publication will also be launched entitled 'Digital Acceleration and the Future Land Administration in the UNECE region', which summarizes lessons learned from FAO and WPLA remote webinars on the same topic. The session will conclude with a panel session focusing on unpacking the land management authorities that have fundamentally changed post-pandemic, and what future action plans and investments are most needed in the sector.

During the conference, a bus service will be available from the city center to the congress venue. But behind the bustle of the business world, you can feel the rhythm of the city, try the many and varied flavors of the city's restaurants, walk along the banks of the Vistula or simply get lost in the side streets and discover something fascinating. During your stay in Warsaw, try to find some time to visit some of the city's excellent museums and galleries.
Stop at the Royal Castle, the Warsaw Museum or visit a former royal residence - the Łazienki Royal Museum - located in the city's most beautiful park. If you haven't been before, take a trip to the Warsaw Rising Museum, dedicated to the heroism of the Varsovians and the events of the last months of World War II. The POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews will introduce you to the 1000-year history of Polish Jews.
Fryderyk Chopin is known throughout the world as one of the greatest composers and pianists of the 19th century. The Fryderyk Chopin Museum at Warsaw's Ostrogski Palace is one of the most awarded modern biographical museums in Europe. Open-air concerts are held every Sunday from May to September at the foot of the monument to Fryderyk Chopin.
Warsaw is a green and refreshing destination with its 346 leafy squares and 96 parks covering a quarter of the city. The largest and most impressive of these is the Royal Łazienki Park and Palace Complex, which covers 76 hectares of parkland in the middle of the city and contains some beautiful architecture. There is also the incredible green roof of the University Library, one of the largest roof gardens in Europe, overlooking the Vistula River and the “PGE Narodowy” Stadium.
