ABSTRACT

The conflict between Russia and Ukraine has attracted global attention after Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a 'special military operation' in Ukraine on February 24, 2022. The year 2022 also coincided with the hosting of the G20 summit, where countries with major economies in the world discussed international economic cooperation. Indonesia hosted the summit. This research aims to understand the news framing conducted by Detik.com and Kompas.com regarding Indonesia's role in the midst of the Russia-Ukraine conflict. The results of this study shows that Detik.com and Kompas.com frame Indonesia as having an important role in an attempt to shape world peace with the agenda of building global economy amidst the international crisis. Kompas.com adopts a more aggressive approach in framing its news, making it easier to understand, while Detik.com takes a more passive approach by allowing readers to draw their own conclusions from the presented news. Detik.com and Kompas.com maintain a neutral stance in portraying Indonesia towards Russia or Ukraine.
