Initial data and observation: Students’ low reading comprehension & inappropriate teaching method.
Finding the theories & appropriate teaching technique (Reciprocal Teaching)
1. To what extent can RT improve students’
reading comprehension?
2. What factors influence the change of students’
reading comprehension through RT?

Stage (4)
Observation Stage (3)
Cycle 2
Findings &
Conclusion
RT could improve the students’ reading comprehension &
there were several factors influence the learning outcomes;
teaching materials, lecturer’s approach, class activity &
management.
Cycle 1
Conclusion
Planning (1)
-Lesson Plan -Teaching Materials -Test (pre & post-test) -Observation Sheet -Field note
-Interview guidelines
Action (2)
-Implementing RT in teaching &
learning processs for 4 meetings in each cycle.
-Collecting Data
Observation (3)
-Collecting Data -Collaborator observes the students & lecturer during teaching &
learning process; fill in to the observation sheet
& field note.
Reflection (4)
-Post-test.
-Interview some students -Analyzing Data
(Qual+Quan) -Discuss with the collaborator; the
weaknesses and strengths.
-Findings and conclusion.
RESEARCH DESIGN
Conclusion
Action research is an approach to solve the real problems and improve the quality of education by changing it practices and learning from the results of the changes.
Action research is a systematic learning that develop through a spiral of cycles namely planning, action, observation and reflection.
Action research is collaborative, it involves teacher, students and collaborator to improve or solve the problem found in teaching and learning process.
Action research used qualitative and quantitative method in collecting and analyzing the data.
