The former is concerned with a more in-depth study of astrophysical topics and is a direct continuation of the bachelor's degree, while the latter is more concerned with the development of astronomical topics in the field of education. The research activities in the Stellar Physics subgroup cover three main topics (a) theoretical studies and numerical modeling of stellar evolution, the structure and atmosphere of stars, the envelope and matter of stars, general and peculiar classes of variable stars (close binary, pulsating stars, accretion disk), light curve and spectral synthesis; (b) Photometry and spectroscopy of variable stars (eclipsing binaries, Be stars, Helium stars, Am stars, cataclysmic binaries), polarimetry of Herbig Ae stars, and astrometry for orbital elements and determination of physical parameters of visual binaries; (c) Development of data collection and processing systems, i.e.

The Chemistry Study Program-FMIPA-ITB is about basic knowledge in 5 main studies: Analytical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry. The Master Study Program in Chemistry consists of 5 sub-programmes which are Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry.

Mathematics

The long history of education in the field of actuarial science began in 1960, when the Mathematics study program offered its subjects as a new elective course. The strong connection between the mathematics degree program and the Association of Actuaries of Indonesia (PAI) has given good opportunities for graduates of the mathematics degree program to be employed in insurance companies as soon as they graduate. Currently, the cooperation between the Mathematics Study Program and the Association of Actuaries of Indonesia (PAI) is strengthened by the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between PAI and ITB in the implementation of actuarial science education at the S1 level.

The MOU will benefit students who pass certain subjects with high distinction given in the Mathematics degree and in the Master of Actuarial Studies to be exempted from some professional examination subjects in the PAI curriculum. There are a number of integrated libraries provided by Institut Teknologi Bandung, consisting of the Central Library, the Mathematics Education Library and other study programs' libraries.

Analysis and Geometry

Members of the Analysis and Geometry Research Division work in most areas in analysis and geometry. In the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Institut Teknologi Bandung, ITB Analysis and Geometry Group is considered as one of the strongest groups that has a good reputation in the mathematical thermal analysis research group in Indonesia and neighboring countries. Our mission as part of an ITB educational institution is to guarantee the high quality of the analysis and geometry courses that are conducted at ITB so that they become references for the national standard.

There are 22 publications from the Analysis and Geometry Research Department in the period, which are summarized as follows. The Combinatorial Mathematics Research Group of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences ITB aims to be a leader in the development of combinatorial mathematics in Indonesia and to contribute internationally.

Statistical process control and reliability is an area of ​​interest for a member of the research department. In particular, financial stochastics, stock price modeling using Ito Lemma and volatility modeling is the area of ​​interest to a member of the Statistics Research Division.

Physics

Students can choose one of five research departments to further their expertise: High Energy Theoretical Physics and Instrumentation; Physics of electronic material; Physics of complex system; Nuclear physics and biophysics; The physics of magnetism and photonics. The scope of the research activities of the Physics for Electronic Material Research Group is the growth and characterization of electronic materials, theoretical/numerical studies of electronic material properties and its application to electronic and optoelectronic devices. The study of amorphous semiconductor is focused on the growth and characterization of amorphous silicon and its application to some electronic and optoelectronic devices such as solar cell, thin film transistor for flat panel display, light emitting diode and color sensor.

In another field, the study of compound semiconductors is focused on III-V compound semiconductors and their related materials, such as gallium-, nitrate-, and antimony-based compound semiconductors. While, the study of theoretical and simulation is specialized to investigate the electronic material properties by means of theoretical analysis using computer simulation and the probability of its use to experimental process of electronic devices.

Physics of Electronic Materials

These deposited materials have been applied to various electronic devices, such as ultraviolet and infrared detectors, gas sensors, laser diodes, FET and MOSFET. Different from the above two fields, the study of superconductors and oxides focuses on research into superconductors, ferroelectric and pyroelectric materials. Superconductor research focuses on thin-film superconductors with high critical temperatures, especially YBCO, NBCO, HgSnBCCO, and their application in electronic devices.

Theoretical High Energy Physics: Fock-Schwinger, teleparallel gravity, Chern-Simon theory, extra dimensional super gravity and superstring;. The first research stream concentrates on theoretical high-energy physics, the frontier of physics in understanding fundamental nature.

Theoretical High Energy Physics & Instrumentation

Instrumentation: Development of new sensors, especially high-resolution magnetic sensors based on flux gate and giant magnetoresistance material (GMR), biosensors, smart home, mobile robot, digital signal and image processing, material science calculations, instrumentation for education. Development of visible light absorption measurements for concentrated dye solutions based on the attenuated total reflection technique and improvement of its analysis. Research in photonic materials and technology focuses on the development of photonic and nonlinear optical materials, waveguide-based optical periodic systems, light-emitting sources for telecommunications/information technology applications and optical sensors.

Meanwhile, research in magnetic materials and technology has focused on the development of superconductors, dilute magnetic semiconductors (DMS), transition metal oxides for applications in frictionless magnetic bearings, superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES), fault current limiters, spintronics and thermoelectric power source. . Thus, we are committed to the contribution of new knowledge in science and technology necessary to support the short-term and long-term development of national sustainability and industrial and economic capability.

Physics of Magnetism & Photonic

Our research is intertwined between theories, experiments and modeling by emphasizing the analysis of experimental results based on theoretical model as well as calculation and simulation results. Our vision is geared to the institutional (ITB) vision of achieving a research-based university in response to the growing global competition in all aspects, especially in science and technology. The strong research competence will also ensure the production of high-quality graduates who are ready to cope with the growing demand in the labor markets.

In accordance with the vision described above, our group has undertaken the mission of developing a stable and ultimately self-sustaining research activity, as well as a research and development base of the highest international standards.
