ABSTRAK

This final project aims to find out how the role of the harbormaster in supervising the seaworthiness of ships, safety, security and order in the port. The formulation of the problem is what is the role of the harbormaster in supervising the seaworthiness of ships, safety, security and order at the port and what obstacles the portmaster faces in supervision. Data was collected by means of observation, interviews, and documentation. This research is expected to provide information about the role of the harbormaster in supervising the seaworthiness of ships, safety, security and order in the port. The conclusion of this research is that the harbormaster has an important role to ensure the safety of shipping by conducting a seaworthiness inspection conducted by the Marine Inspector. The obstacles faced by the harbormaster are the lack of employees who have a Marine inspector license, the unscheduled inspection process and expired ship documents.
