An Overview of Department of Mathematics

Cleaning of all rooms in Department of Mathematics: Head of Department's Room, Lecturers' rooms, Lecture rooms, Laboratories, etc. Make and submit laboratory needs proposal to the Head of Department by the Head of the Lab.

Vision, Mission and Objectives of Department of Mathematics

To produce high-quality graduates who are able to optimally apply their knowledge, compete and adapt quickly to the world of work.

Main Process of Quality Management System in Department of Mathematics

The human resources required are also physically and mentally healthy, communicative, skilled, willing to learn, creative, independent, able to work in teams and under pressure. Report in a timely manner, research innovation for scientific development, produce scientific work publication accepted in scientific forums, patents, textbooks, enrich learning materials or used in the community. At the request of the department head, customer complaints can be submitted to various oral and written media, both offline and online ([email protected]), according to MP for Incompatible Product Control Handling.

Customer complaints are used as a measure of customer satisfaction which is coordinated by the Management Representative of the Department of Mathematics. Every semester an evaluation of customer satisfaction is carried out to improve the quality of the Department of Mathematics on an ongoing basis according to the MP for Incompatible Product Control Handling (MP 009046002). The Department of Mathematics in the execution of all business processes of its Quality Management System follows the cycle of the Internal Quality Assurance System of the Brawijaya University, i.e.

OSDAT, which is derived from the management cycle of Plan Do Check Action (PDCA) at https://pjm.ub.ac.id/layanan/spmi/, as presented in Figure 4.2. The five activities are explained in detail in the department's procedure manual and work instructions.

In addition to achieving the vision and mission, the Department of Mathematics provides educational services to students as the main customers with the motto: Student satisfaction is our priority. In the process of teaching and learning, facilities and infrastructure are prepared according to the standards of the National Body of Accreditation of Higher Education (BAN-PT). The Department of Mathematics is committed to running a system of quality assurance in all departmental activities and continuous quality improvement.

For this policy, the department then implements a teaching and learning process with the aim of providing a workforce in mathematics that is acceptable to users by ensuring the quality of graduates in accordance with the requirements. The quality goals of the departments are prepared based on the standard of the National Accreditation Authority for Higher Education (BAN-PT), with the aim of facilitating the preparation of departments and study programs for accreditation. In accordance with the organizational structure, main tasks and functions of the Department of Mathematics (see chapter 4.2), the responsibilities and powers of each function are precisely and clearly defined.

In addition, when implementing the quality assurance system at department level, the department secretary is appointed as a manager representative (MR) who is responsible for ensuring that all QMS requirements are met and that the quality standards set are met and has the authority to represent the department manager in the execution of daily quality assurance activities assisted by the Quality Assurance Unit (QAU). Communication between the head of department, the department secretary (MR), the head of studies, the QAU team and administrative staff is carried out periodically as needed. In the meantime, communication with stakeholders is done through bulletin boards, invitation letter or through the Internet (website) and occasional face-to-face meetings if necessary.

The management review is carried out after the completion of the Internal Quality Audit (QIA) by holding a meeting between the Head of the Department, MR and the QAU team, in order to identify, evaluate the results of the QIA and improve it if there are deficiencies (resources, improvement of service) and prevention as well as quality improvement if QIA results are missing. In addition, it also discusses the development program of the Department of Mathematics and the new Program of Study, feedback from customers, non-compliant products and its follow-up, ongoing program/business process performance and product suitability, evaluation of objectives of default quality, prevention status. and corrective actions, and follow-up from previous management reviews. The results of management reviews will be communicated to all lecturers, academic support staff during regular departmental meetings, as well as department and faculty heads.

It shows in the dissertation proposal seminar, the dissertation result seminar which is held openly. The number of student attendance is used as a requirement to take the dissertation exam/defense. Academic pulpit freedom serves as part of academic freedom which enables the lecturers to convey their thinking freely according to scientific norms and principles.

The Institute invites experts outside the higher institution to convey meaning within the framework of the implementation of academic freedom, which is aimed at realizing the self-development of the academic community, science and technology, which is guided by scientific autonomy.

Research and community service with DPP/SPP funds is carried out jointly between lecturers involving the students of each year. The procurement of goods and infrastructure in the Department of Mathematics is based on the procurement carried out by the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Brawijaya University. The provision of educational service in the Department of Mathematics is fully subordinated to the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Brawijaya University.

The management of the Monitoring and Evaluation Equipment used in the Mathematics Department is laid down in the Procedures Manual: Management of the Monitoring and Evaluation Equipment of Education.
