An English Education Thesis from the Faculty of Teacher Education and Training, University of Muhammadiyah Makassar. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of using WebQuest in learning English as a foreign language, especially teaching reading comprehension, which consists of increasing students' literal reading comprehension of main ideas and supporting details. The results showed that the average score on the students' pretest before using learning was 52.30%.

It concludes that the effectiveness of using WebQuest media in learning English is able to make a greater contribution and easy for teachers to provide materials and help students to understand the concept of reading comprehension more easily and effectively. to understand. One of the most common methods is using video communication platforms such as Zoom to create virtual "classrooms" or classes. The purpose of the WebQuest is to teach students how to operate the Internet through the use of resources and the development of the Internet. According to Dwiarti (2005), reading comprehension is a crucial ability to broaden the reader's perspective and enable them to perceive the world and opportunities from a different perspective. There are four problems that students face when searching for a main idea of ​​the text: 1) lack of interest in reading, 2) lack of background information, 3) lack of vocabulary, 4) lack of knowledge of.

One of the most useful resources for developing reading skills is the Internet, which contains a huge amount of diverse and readily available real material. One of the main benefits of using authentic materials in the classroom is that the student is exposed to the real world and language. Based on the above background, the following research questions are necessary to answer: To know the effectiveness of using Webquest in English Foreign Language Classroom as media for e-learning at SMA Tridharma MKGR Makassar.

The aim of the study is to find out the effectiveness of using Webquest in Foreign Language English as a media for e-learning, especially when teaching reading comprehension. The research focused on the effectiveness of using WebQuest in English Foreign Languages ​​in the learning process, especially when teaching reading.

The research focuses on the application of the pre-experimental teaching method to the pre-test and post-test. One of the main benefits of using authentic materials in the classroom is that students are exposed to the real world and language. The reader is curious and tries to reconstruct what the author wants from the experts.

Reading comprehension is one of the most important skills needed to broaden the reader's point of view and give them the ability to see the world and its opportunities. Weda (2010) conceptualizes that reading comprehension is one of the most successful ways of learning English and has a similar relationship to an active writing style. Reading comprehension is students' theory of understanding what they are reading and the meaning of the text they are reading or the ability to manage text.

At the end of the section, you cite places to check your understanding of the information and ideas in the text. Web searches are on-demand activities where a pair or set of information comes from the Internet.

The purpose of this post-test was to find out what the students read comprehension after implementing WebQuest. The results of the study are about the effectiveness of using WebQuest in teaching reading comprehension at SMA Tridharma MKGR Makassar. The students' mean literal reading comprehension score was 52.30 before the therapy was applied in the pre-test.

That there was a difference in the improvement of the students' performance in the experimental class in literal reading comprehension. This meant that the use of WebQuest could improve the students' reading comprehension in terms of main idea and supporting details. The researcher used WebQuest to see if the students' literal reading comprehension improved in terms of main concept and supporting elements in the narrative text, and if there was a difference between pre-test and post-test.

Based on the table above, it showed that there was difference between the students' score of pre-test and post-test in literal reading comprehension. The data analysis shows that the students' average scores improved from pre-test and post-test. The research found that the students' reading comprehension with the help of WebQuest showed the improvement of the students' reading comprehension, this is evident from the average score and percentage of the students' pre- and post-test results.

The use of WebQuest is believed to be effective in improving students' reading comprehension. The experimental class improved more than the control post-test students' scores. Using WebQuest to Improve the Reading Comprehension of Second Grade Students at SMKN 1 Depok, Sleman in the Academic Year 2011/2012.
