Alfred University men�s soccer team shuts out Fredonia for fifth straight victory 9/22/04
ALFRED, NY The Alfred University men's soccer team defeated visiting Fredonia State 3-0 Wednesday evening at Merrill Field. With the victory, the Saxons ran their winning streak to five games.Alfred (5-2-1, 1-0-0 Empire 8) took the lead 23:51 into the game when sophomore midfielder Zach Hunkele (Elmira/Elmira Free Academy) scored on an assist from sophomore forward Bobby Linaberry (Manlius/Fayetteville-Manlius). Sophomore midfielder Jarett Sanatar (Great Neck/Great Neck North) scored an unassisted goal two minutes later. Freshman forward Adam Long
(Bath/Haverling) closed out the Saxons' scoring with an unassisted goal with just under 13 minutes left in
regulation.Sophomore Brian Middleton (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) made three saves in goal to get the shutout for AU. Casey Acker played 79 minutes in net for Fredonia and stopped six shots. Yoshikazu Arai played the final 11 minutes.AU is in action next on Saturday, Sept. 25, at 7 p.m. at home against St. John Fisher.
