Tujuan utama penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah penggunaan teknik skimming dalam membaca teks dapat meningkatkan keterampilan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas X (sepuluh) MA Darul A'mal Metro tahun ajaran 2018/2019. Pre-test digunakan untuk mengetahui kemampuan siswa dalam memahami bacaan teks, dan post-test digunakan untuk mengetahui hasil kemampuan siswa dalam membaca teks setelah diberikan perlakuan yaitu penggunaan teknik skimming. ketika membaca teks naratif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa teknik skimming dapat digunakan sebagai teknik untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemahaman siswa, khususnya teks narrative, yang dibuktikan dengan rata-rata skor pre dan post test.

Nilai rata-rata pretes adalah 53,6, kemudian nilai rata-rata postes I adalah 72,4 dan nilai rata-rata postes II adalah 84,4. Berdasarkan hasil di atas terlihat adanya peningkatan nilai rata-rata dari pre-test, post-test I dan post-test II. Pre-test digunakan untuk mengetahui apakah siswa mampu memahami teks dan post-test untuk mengetahui hasil kemampuan siswa dalam membaca teks setelah diberikan perlakuan menggunakan teknik skimming yaitu ketika membaca teks narrative.

The result of this research shows that skim reading technique can be used as a technique to improve students' reading comprehension, especially in narrative text, this was proved by the mean score result of pre-test and post-test. Based on the result above, it can be seen that there was an improvement mean score from the pre-test, post-test I and post-test II.

The result of the test of the student's reading comprehension ability in the narrative text is the result during the tenth grade at MA Darul A'mal Metro. The writer assumes that students have a low level in learning English, especially reading comprehension of narrative text. Based on the background of the study and the identification of problems above, the writer would like to focus on "Students have difficulty in reading comprehension ability, especially in narrative text".

The aim of the research is to show that the use of Skimming Technique can improve the reading skills of students in the tenth grade of MA Darul A'mal Metro in narrative text. The studies on the use of the skimming technique in reading comprehension have been carried out on a large scale by some researchers. The parable is in the form of the same topic of Skimming Technique to improve students' reading comprehension.

The result of this research proves that the skimming technique can be used to improve students' reading comprehension. However, the type of text that will be taught is different, as the first previous research used skimming technique to improve reading comprehension ability in descriptive text, while the writer will use skimming technique to improve reading comprehension in narrative text.

The writer and the colleague talked about the action that would be carried out on cycle II. c) The writer and a colleague prepared a detailed plan for the campaign at II. RESEARCH METHOD

Description of the Research Setting

Madrasah Aliyah (MA) Darul A'mal is one of the Islamic Senior High School in Metro City. Madrasah Aliyah Darul A'mal Mulyojati which is now part of Mulyojati District, Central Lampung, is thriving in three districts/towns of East Lampung. City Government Metro and Central Lampung itself, this happened in 1999, then in 2000 District/Municipal Government Metro instead of Metro City and from then on the location of Madrasah Aliyah is located at jalan Pesantren Mulyojati 16 B sub-district West Metro, Metro City.

At this time Aliyah Darul A'mal Madrasah is accredited with a Decree (SK) from the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Lampung Province Number: D/KW/MA/MT/235/2006, and is ranked "B" with Madrasah Statistical Number.

Based on the result of the pre-test score, the researcher identified and found the problems after taking the students' pre-test score. At the end of the meeting, the researcher gave feedback to the students about the learning process. The researcher motivated the students and introduced them to the activities at the next meeting.

The post-test I did to know the reading comprehension of the students after giving the treatment. During the learning process, there were three activities that used to know the activity of the students. However, the score of most students had improved, although the state of the learning process was uncontrolled enough.

Then the researcher asked the students to answer the short answer question from the text. At the end of the meeting, the researcher gave motivation and feedback to the students about the learning process.

Discussion

Dengan bimbingan dan arahan guru, siswa bertanya dan bertanya tentang fungsi sosial, struktur teks, dan unsur kebahasaan dari masing-masing teks tersebut. Guru dan seluruh siswa mendiskusikan fungsi sosial, struktur teks, dan unsur kebahasaan dalam teks berbentuk narrative. e) Mencoba. Siswa berdiskusi dengan anggota kelompoknya tentang fungsi sosial, struktur teks, dan unsur kebahasaan dalam teks berbentuk narrative. e) Mencoba.

Di bawah bimbingan dan arahan guru, siswa mengajukan pertanyaan tentang fungsi sosial, struktur teks, dan unsur kebahasaan dari masing-masing teks tersebut. h) Mengumpulkan Informasi. Secara individual, siswa mencari dan mengumpulkan informasi dalam teks naratif. i) Asosiasi. Guru dan seluruh siswa mendiskusikan fungsi sosial, struktur teks, dan unsur kebahasaan dalam teks berbentuk narrative. j) mencoba.

CONCLUSION

Conclusion

Based on the results of the implementation of learning to read using the Skimming technique in two cycles of action research in the classroom, the researcher wants to conclude that the Skimming technique can be an effective way to improve students' reading comprehension ability, especially in narrative text. . In addition, there was a significant improvement in student learning product from pretest to posttest II. This was evident from the pre-test, where the average score was 53.6 with a percentage of success of 3.0%, in the post-test I the average score was 72.4 with a percentage of success of 36.4% and in the post-test II the average score was 84 .4, and the percentage success rate is 84.8%.

In addition, this classroom action research was successful in improving students' reading comprehension, especially for narrative text, as seen from the success indicator, as 84.4% of the total students already achieved a Minimum Mastery Criteria (MMC) score of at least 76.
