IAIN Metro has four faculties namely (1) Tarbiyah and Teaching Training, (2) Syariah, (3) Islamic Announcing and Communication, (4) Islamic Economics and Business. There are facilities at IAIN Metro to support the lecturers and students in carrying out the learning process. To prepare students to be professional English teachers who can imply, develop and expand English education with the Anglo-Islamic spirit.

In line with the above statement, the English Department always tries to develop the quality in the teaching and learning process. Indeed, it will be a dynamic, open and courteous relationship between the stakeholders of the English Education Department of IAIN Metro.

General Description of Research Data

Based on the first question of interview "What does the student know about compound complex sentence?". Discussion

From the above explanation, it can be concluded that the students did not understand the grammar and structure of the compound sentence. Students get confused to make grammatical sentences and they still apply Indonesian structure and grammar when they make English sentences. This research has found errors in the complex sentences made by the English Education Department of the fourth semester students of Metro State Institute of Islamic Studies.

The finding of the research was 76 compound complex sentences, it was found that there were 23 error sentences and it showed that the students made a total of 26 errors which consisted of errors belong to missing subject was 14 or 18,42 %, errors belong to missing verb was 1 or 1.31%, errors belong to missing subject and verb were 1 or 1.31%, and the error belongs to dependent clause was 0 or 0%, errors belong to joined sentences were 3 or 3.95% , errors belong to comma splice was 7 or 9.21. The errors on compound complex sentences were because the fourth semester students' Education Department of The State Institute of Islamic Studies of Metro were still confused to arrange the words in compound complex sentences. The students are suggested to learn more about compound complex sentence, to learn structure of compound complex sentences, how to apply wrong structure and grammar to compound complex sentence.

To master English grammar, students should often try made sentence, students can try to write the compound complex sentence and analyze the component and structure deeply. The teacher is suggested to give more knowledge about compound complex sentence, include the component and the grammar structure. The way to overcome students' problems in case of providing punctuation, moreover.

The researcher also proposes to the following other researchers to develop a study on improvement of students' compound complex sentences. An analysis of English writing errors made by Chinese and Korean university students", theory and practice in language studies.
