Recognition Program
The Agriscience Student Program recognizes high school students who study the application of scientific principles and emerging technologies in the agricultural industry. All research must be started while the student is enrolled in high school and completed by December 31 of the year of high school graduation. Applications for national competition must be submitted to the National FFA Center on or before July 15 each year.
Award Objective
The chapter application must be submitted to the state FFA office on or before the appropriate due date for your state. Medals and certificates are available from National FFA on the Medal Distribution Request Form included on the Chapter Resources CD-ROM. Finalists prepare an oral presentation and agree to build a project exhibit to be part of the Agriscience Student Recognition Exhibit at the National Agricultural Career Fair as part of the National FFA Convention in Louisville, Kentucky.
Award Recognition
If selected as one of eight national finalists, I agree, under the direction of the designated National FFA staff, to construct an agricultural science exhibit based on this application and to participate in the Agricultural Science Exhibition at the Agricultural Career Show. Agriscience Teacher of the Year Program
The top two applications or ten percent of a state's total applications, whichever is greater, must be submitted to the National FFA Center by July 15th. The national winner will receive a school plaque, an individual plaque and an additional cash prize of $1,500. NATIONAL FFA CONVENTION The four national finalists will be presented on stage at the National FFA Convention and honored at a special agriscience luncheon.
Media Recognition
The top two applications or ten percent of a state's total applications, whichever is greater, must be submitted to the National FFA Center by July 15th. Teachers who were named as National Finalists are not eligible to enter the competition for the first year after being named a National Finalist. The national finalists travel. to the national meet to compete for the title of national winner. If named a National Finalist, we agree that the applicant will attend the National FFA Convention in Louisville, Kentucky.

Objects must be moved away from the edge of the table and must not be active at any time. Any part of the exhibit that can heat up above 100 degrees Celsius (the temperature of boiling water) must be adequately protected from the environment. National FFA staff must be notified of the need for power at the time of certification so that it can be ordered in advance.

Is the exhibitor aware of the basic scientific principles that underpin the methods used and the conclusions reached. Has the exhibitor made thorough use of data, cited literature, interviews, correspondence, etc.

Thoroughness - Is the exhibitor aware of the empirical method (the necessity of repeating experiments) and the importance of controlling the variables in the experiment to reach valid conclusions. Considering the exhibitor's age and experience, the project makes use of their abilities. The three components of the project: written report, interview and display, are all evaluated to determine the final placement of the exhibits.
Project Components
Draw conclusions from the results of your investigation and relate them to your original hypothesis. They are not interested in rote speeches, they just want to talk about the research to see if the competitor(s) have a good grasp of the project from start to finish. Use photographs to show the stages of your project or to depict items that may not be safe to display or would be expensive to transport or replace if lost or damaged.
