New Fees
As most of you already know, new fees will go into effect on January 1, 1991. We have made adjustments in the structure of the fee schedule to simplify its administration, and have made moderate increases in the fee amounts. This was done only after considerable debate and deliberation.
The new -fees will be applicable to all STRI staff, fellows and visitors, both the ones already at STRI and the ones coming to STRI.
Nevertheless, some of the rates can be reduced when they entail finandal hardship and discourage research of interest to the Institute. Requests for reductions should be addressed, in writing, to the Director, and should include a summary of the proposed research, other funding available, and the project duration.

Como la mayona sabemos, las nuevas tarifas entraran en efecto el lro. de enero de 1991. Se han hecho arreglos en 1a estructura de tarifas para simplificar su administraci6n, y hemos hecho aumentos moderados en las cantidades. Esto fue decidido despues de mucha consideraci6n.
Las nuevas tarifas se aplican a todo el personal de STRI, becarios y visitantes, aquellos actualmente en STRI y los que estan por llegar. Algunas tarifas pueden ser reducidas si la persona confronta dificultades financieras 0 si un proyecto de investigaci6n que es de gran interes para el Instituto se ve perjudicado. Solicitudes para reducciones deben hacerse por escrito al Director y deben inc1uir un resumen de la investigaci6n a realizarse, otro tipo de financiamieno disponible y la duraci6n del proyecto.

If (Tupper Secretary) Ana Maria Ford's voice answers the phone in the Director's Office, do not be
surprised. Monica Alvarado will be working at the Tropical Forest Action Plan Task Force in the Ancon Building for two months, beginning November 19.
During this time, Ana Mana will work in the Director's Office and Geny Espano will be acting as her replacement.

II Copa Navideiia de la DivisiOn de Dragado 1990
La Copa Navidena es una liga de futbol interno de la Division de Dragas de la Comision del Canal. Consta de 5 equipos debidamente inscritos y representados, mas el equipo de STRI como invitado tradicional. El equipo de STRI se corono campeon el ano pasado.
Este ano va por su segunda victoria.
Todos los juegos se realizan en el campo de futbolito de Gamboa, frente a la estacion de gasolina. El calendario de nuestro equipo es el siguiente:
