God's commandments and decrees are written on the tablets of your hearts. Because of jealousy and envy, the greatest and most upright pillars of the Church were persecuted and fought to the death.

1 Clem. 9

1 Clem. 10

For his faith and hospitality, he was given a son in his old age, and after obedience he offered him to God on one of the mountains that he showed him.

1 Clem. 11

1 Clem. 12

For the Holy Spirit says: Let not the wise boast in his wisdom, nor the mighty in his strength, nor the rich in his riches; With this commandment and these regulations, we confirm ourselves that we will be able to walk in obedience to his holy words with humility.

1 Clem. 14

Therefore, brethren, let us be humble in spirit, laying aside all arrogance, conceit, foolishness, and wrath, and let us do as it is written. For the holy word says: To whom shall I look, but to him who is gentle and quiet, and fears My oracles.

1 Clem. 15

And again He said, "They loved him with their mouth, and lied to him with their tongue; and their heart was not right with him, neither were they steadfast in his covenant. To the misery of the needy, and to the groaning of to the poor I will now arise, says the Lord.

1 Clem. 16

And again He himself says; But I am a worm and a nobody, a reproach to men and an outcast of the people. All who saw me mocked me; they spoke with their lips; they shook their heads and said: He hoped in the Lord; let Him deliver him, or let Him save him, because He desires him.

1 Clem. 17

Therefore he shall inherit many and divide the spoils of the strong; because his soul was delivered up to death, and he was counted among the transgressors. You see, dearly beloved, what is the pattern that has been given us; for if the Lord were so mean-spirited, what should we do, who by him have been brought under the yoke of his grace.

1 Clem. 18

Against You alone have I sinned, and I have done evil in Your sight; so that You may be justified in Your words, and overcome in Your supplication. For behold, Thou hast loved truth; the dark and hidden things of your wisdom you have shown me.

1 Clem. 19

Moreover, the unfathomable depths of the abysses and the unspeakable ordinances of the nether regions are bounded by the same ordinances. The ocean impassable to men, and the worlds beyond, are directed by the same ordinances of the Master.

1 Clem. 21

Let us honor our rulers; let us honor our elders; let us teach our young men the lesson of godliness. For He is the seeker out of intentions and desires; whose breath is in us, and when he listens, he will take it away.

1 Clem. 22

Let us rather scandalize foolish and senseless men who exalt themselves and boast in the arrogance of their words, than to God.

1 Clem. 23

In truth, his will will be fulfilled quickly and suddenly, the scriptures also testify to this, which says that he will come quickly and will not delay; and the Lord will come suddenly into his temple, even the Holy One, whom you expect.

1 Clem. 24

1 Clem. 25

1 Clem. 26

1 Clem. 27

1 Clem. 28

His people Jacob became the portion of the Lord, and Israel the measure of his inheritance. And in another place He says: Behold, the Lord takes for Himself a nation in the midst of the nations, as a man takes the firstfruits of his threshing floor; and the Most Holy will come out of that nation.

1 Clem. 30

For thus it is written: When the Most High divided the nations, when He scattered the sons of Adam, He determined the boundaries of the nations according to the number of the angels of God.

1 Clem. 31

Jacob went humbly out of his country for his brother's sake and went to Laban and served; and the twelve tribes of Israel were given to him.

1 Clem. 32

1 Clem. 33

1 Clem. 34

1 Clem. 35

If you saw a thief, you associated with him, and with adulterers you determined your lot. You sat and spoke against your brother, and you set a stumbling block against your mother's son.

1 Clem. 36

For they that do these things hate God; and not only those who do them, but also those who consent to them. The sacrifice of praise will glorify Me, and there is a way in which I will show him the salvation of God.

1 Clem. 37

All are not prefects, nor rulers of thousands, nor rulers of hundreds, nor rulers of fifties, etc.; but every man in his rank executes the orders of the king and governors. A head without legs is nothing; so also the feet without the head are nothing: even the least members of our body are necessary and useful to the whole body: but all the members conspire and unite in subjection, that the whole body may be saved.

1 Clem. 38

1 Clem. 39

Depart, therefore, you who dwell in houses of clay, of which we ourselves are made of the same clay. But call thou, if perhaps one will obey thee, or if thou wilt see one of the holy angels.

1 Clem. 40

1 Clem. 41

1 Clem. 42

1 Clem. 43

1 Clem. 44

1 Clem. 45

But that disorder should not arise in Israel, he did so, with the purpose that the Name of the true and only God would be glorified: to whom He gives glory forever and ever. But those who patiently persevered in faith inherited glory and honor; they were exalted, and their names were remembered by God for ever and ever.

1 Clem. 46

1 Clem. 47

It is shameful, very dear, yea, utterly shameful and unworthy of your conduct in Christ, that it should be reported that the very staunch and ancient Church of Corinth, for the sake of one or two persons, revolts against it. the presbyters. And this news has not reached us only, but also those who differ from us, so that you accumulate blasphemy against the name of God because of your foolishness and moreover create danger for yourselves.

1 Clem. 48

1 Clem. 49

All the generations from Adam to this day have passed away, but those who by the grace of God were perfected in love, dwell in the abode of the godly. Because it is written; Blessed are those whose iniquities are forgiven and whose sins are covered.

1 Clem. 51

Who is enough to be found in it, except those to whom God will guarantee it. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord imputes no sin, and there is no deceit in his mouth.

1 Clem. 52

1 Clem. 53

1 Clem. 54

But also to bring forth examples of Gentiles; Many kings and rulers, when a time of pestilence pressed upon them, taught by oracles, gave themselves up to death, that they might save their fellow-citizens by their own blood. We know that many among themselves have surrendered themselves to slavery, that they might redeem others.

1 Clem. 56

And from the plague of the tongue he will hide you, and you will not be afraid when evil approaches. You will laugh at the unjust and the wicked, and you will not be afraid of wild beasts.

1 Clem. 57

In famine He will deliver you from death, and in war He will deliver you from the arm of the sword. And you will come to the grave like ripe wheat harvested at the right time, or like the heap gathered on the threshing floor at the right time.

2 Clem. 1

2 Clem. 2

For this is indeed a great and wonderful work, not to establish the things that stand, but to establish the things that fall. In the same way, Christ also wanted to save the things that were lost. And He saved many by coming to call us when even now we were perishing.

2 Clem. 3

2 Clem. 4

2 Clem. 5

And you know, brothers, that the sojourn of this flesh in this world is short and for a short time, but the promise of Christ is great and wonderful, even the rest of the kingdom that is to be and eternal life. Because when we want to achieve these things, we fall away from the righteous path.

2 Clem. 6

What, then, can we do to obtain them, except that we walk in holiness and righteousness, and regard these worldly things as foreign and do not desire them.

2 Clem. 7

And let us resort to it en masse and fight, that we too may be crowned. What will be done to him who has acted corruptly in the battle of incorruption?

2 Clem. 8

And if we cannot all be crowned, let us at least approach the crown. We must know that he who fights in the corruptible race, if found corrupting with it, is first scourged.

2 Clem. 9

For as for those who have not kept the seal, He says, Their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched, and they shall be a spectacle to all flesh. Let us therefore give Him eternal praise, not only from our lips, but also from our hearts, that He may receive us as sons.

2 Clem. 10

2 Clem. 11

2 Clem. 12

2 Clem. 13

Let us therefore rather choose to be of the church of life, that we may be saved. Such and therefore one must not partake of the spirit which is Christ>.

2 Clem. 15

Now the Church, being spiritual, appeared in the flesh of Christ, thus showing us that if any of us keep it in the flesh and do not defile it, he will receive it again in the Holy Spirit: for this flesh is the counterpart and the copy. of the soul. This, then, is what he means, brethren; Save the flesh, that you may partake of the spirit.

2 Clem. 16

2 Clem. 17

But the righteous have done good and endured torments and hateful pleasures of the soul, when they will see those who have done evil and denied Jesus by their words or deeds, how they are punished with severe torments in the fire of inexhaustible, they will give. glory to God, saying, "There shall be hope for him that hath served God with all his heart."

For they are not deacons of meat and drink, but servants of God's church. THE TEACHING OF THE LORD TO THE GENTILE BY THE TWELVE APOSTLES (also known as the DIDACH).

THE TEACHING OF THE LORD TO THE GENTILES BY THE TWELVE APOSTLES (also known as DIDACHE)

Did. 1

Did. 2

You shall hate none, but some you shall rebuke, and others you shall pray for, and others you shall love more than your life.

Did. 3

Did. 4

You must not hesitate to give, and you must not murmur when you give; for you will know who is the good paymaster of your wages. In the church you must confess your transgressions and do not turn to prayer with a bad conscience.

Did. 5

You will not turn away from him who is in need, but you will make your brother a partaker in all things, and you will not claim anything as your own. You will never forsake the commandments of God, but you will keep those things which you have received, neither adding nor subtracting from them.

Did. 6

You shall not withhold your hand from your son or from your daughter, but from their youth you shall teach them the fear of God. You shall not command your manservant or your maidservant in your bitterness, who trusts in the same God as yourself, lest they cease to fear the God who is over you both; for He does not come to call people as to persons, but He comes to those whom the Spirit has prepared.

Did. 7

Did. 8

Did. 9

Did. 10

Did. 11

Yet not everyone who speaks in the Spirit is a prophet, but only if he follows the ways of the Lord. And any prophet who teaches the truth is a false prophet if he does not practice what he teaches.

Did. 12

And when he departs, let the apostle take nothing but bread, until he finds shelter; but if he asks for money, he is a false prophet. And whosoever shall say in the Spirit, Give me silver, or any other thing, thou shalt not hear; but if he tells you to give to others who are in need, let no one judge him.

Did. 13

And no prophet, when he sets a table in the Spirit, will eat of it; otherwise he is a false prophet. And every prophet approved and found true, if he do it as an outward mystery typical of the Church, and yet teach you not to do all that he himself does, shall not be judged before you; he has his judgment in the presence of God; because the prophets of old did the same thing.

Did. 14

Likewise, when you open a jug of wine or oil, take the firstfruit and give it to the prophets.

Did. 15

Did. 16

And then the deceiver of the world will appear as a son of God; and he will do signs and wonders, and the earth will be delivered into his hands; and he shall do unholy things, such as have never been since the world began. Then all created mankind will come into the fire of trial, and many will be offended and perish; but those who stand in their faith will be saved from the curse itself.

Barn. 1

Barn. 2

He therefore annulled these things, that the new law of our Lord Jesus Christ, being free from the yoke of oppression, might be given his offering not by the hand of man. And He said to them again; He commanded your fathers, when they came out of the land of Egypt, to bring me whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.

Barn. 3

What is the multitude of your sacrifices to me, says the Lord, I am full of full burnt offerings and the fat of lambs and the blood of bulls and goats I do not desire, even if you come to see me. So we ought to perceive, unless we have no understanding, the mind of our Father's goodness; for he tells us not to go astray as they did, but to seek how we may draw near to him.

Barn. 4

Let us flee from all vanity, let us utterly hate the works of the evil way. Let us, as far as we can, exercise ourselves in the fear of God, [and] let us strive to keep his commandments, that we may delight in his ordinances.

Barn. 5

For if He had not come in the flesh, men would not have seen Him and been saved, because when they look at the sun that ceases to be, which is the work of His own hands, they do not see its rays cannot witness. That is why the Son of God came in the flesh, so that He can summarize the whole story of their sins against those who persecuted and killed his prophets.

Barn. 6

And again He says; This is the great and wonderful day that the Lord has made. And the Lord said when He saw the beautiful creation of our men; Multiply and multiply and fill the earth.

Barn. 7

But who is it that is able to rule over animals and fish and birds of the sky? But what does it mean that they put the wool among the thorns.

Barn. 8

For this reason it says that the goats must be beautiful and alike, so that when they see him coming, they may be amazed at the likeness of the goat. It is a type of Jesus set before the church, since anyone who would take away the crimson wool had to suffer many things because of the terrible nature of the thorn and through tribulations gain dominion over it.

Barn. 9

Barn. 10

Hold fast to those who fear the Lord, to those who meditate in their hearts on the discernment of the word they have received, to those who declare and keep the ordinances of the Lord, to those who know that meditation is a work of joy and who chew the cud on the word of the Lord. For this purpose He circumcised our ears and hearts, that we might understand these things.

Barn. 11

You understand how He pointed to the water and the cross at the same time. And whoever eats of these will live forever; He means this; whosoever, saith He, shall hear these things, and believe, shall live for ever.

Barn. 12

What does Moses say again to Jesus (Joshua), the son of Nun, when he gave him this name, as a prophet, that all the people might listen to him alone, because the Father reveals everything about his son Jesus. Look again, it's Jesus, not a son of man, but the Son of God, and he was revealed in the flesh in a figure.

Barn. 13

So Moses said to Jesus, the son of Nun, and gave him this name when he sent him as a scout into the land; Take the book in your hands and write what the Lord says, how the Son of God will root out the entire house of Amalek in the last days. Since then, people will say that Christ is the son of David, David himself prophesies because he fears and understands the error of sinners; The Lord said to my Lord: Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies your footstool.

Barn. 14

Mark in whose cases He determined that this people should be the first and heir of the covenant. Again the prophet said; Behold, I have appointed You to be a light to the Gentiles, that You might be for salvation even to the ends of the earth; Thus says the Lord who redeemed you, even God.

Barn. 15

Again the prophet said; The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, therefore He has anointed me to preach good tidings to the lowly; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim deliverance to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord and the day of recompense, to all who mourn to comfort. That is why we also keep the eighth day for joy, on which Jesus also rose from the dead and, revealed, ascended into heaven.

Barn. 16

For he who would be saved looks not to man, but to Him who dwells and speaks in him, and marvels that he never heard these words from the mouth of the speaker, nor did he himself want to hear them. to them.

Barn. 17

Barn. 18

Barn. 19

You will submit to your masters in shame and fear as an example of God. You must not be hasty with your own tongue, for the mouth is the snare of death.

Barn. 21

For it is a way of eternal death with punishment, in which are the things that destroy the souls of men: idolatry, arrogance, power-mongering, hypocrisy, double-heartedness, adultery, murder, robbery, pride, transgressions, treachery, wickedness, stubbornness, sorcery, sorcery, greed, lack of fear of God;.

Herm.Vis Vision 1

34;But those who are drawn up from the deep and placed in the building, and who fit together in their joints with the other stones already built in, who are they. These are those who suffered for the Lord's name." . . 34; I said to her, Lady, such a huge beast that could destroy entire peoples: but with the Lord's power and His great mercy, I escaped it."

Herm.Mand Mandate 1

34. Ye shall live, said he, if ye keep my commandments and walk in them: and whosoever heareth these commandments and keepeth them shall live unto God. But believe that the works of the angel of wickedness are hard; so by not doing them you will live before God.”

Parables Which He Spake With Me

For the lord of this land says to you in justice: "Either obey my laws, or leave my land." Do not, therefore, practice the expenses of the pagans; for it is not suitable for you, servants of God.

Another Parable

And the virgins took them up and placed them in the tower building in an intermediate position. But such persons as bear the names of the maidens have their abode in the tower."

Diogn. 1

Diogn. 2

Let one of you submit to this treatment, let him submit to these things that are being done to him. No, not a single individual will voluntarily submit to such a punishment, for he has sensibility and reason; but the stone submits because it is insensible. That's why you condemn his sensitivity.

Diogn. 3

And as for the honors which you think you offer them, if they are conscious of them, you rather punish them with them, while if they are insensible you reproach them by propitiating them with the blood and fat of the victims . Well, I could say much more about the fact that Christians are not enslaved to gods like these; but if any one thinks that what has been said is insufficient, I think it superfluous to say more.

Diogn. 4

For of the things which God hath made for man's use to receive some which made good, but to reject others as useless and superfluous, this is not ungodly. Again, to extol the mutilation of the flesh as a sign of election, as if for this reason they were especially beloved of God, this is not ridiculous.

Diogn. 5

If they do good, they are punished as evildoers; being punished, they rejoice, as if they were quickened by it. War is waged against them as strangers by the Jews, and persecution is waged against them by the Greeks, and yet those who hate them cannot tell the reason of their enmity.

Diogn. 6

Do you not see them] thrown to the wild beasts, that they might deny the Lord, and yet they are not overcome. These do not appear to be the works of man; they are the power of God; are evidence of his presence.

Diogn. 8

These do not seem like the works of a man; they are the power of God; they are evidence of His presence. will go), and others water, and others some other of the elements that were created by God. For God, the Master and Creator of the Universe, Who created all things and ordered them, was found to be not only friendly to men, but also long-suffering.
