Finding the research is of drilling technique that affects the way of speaking and the performance of speaking in the eighth grade of SMP MMT (makarti mukti tama) Kebun Dalam Way Serdang. Based on the result of the data significantly influence between the use of repetition as the technique to the result of learning English in the eighth grade of SMP MMT (makarti mukti tama)) Kebun Dalam Way Serdang Mesuji.

INTRODUCTION

Source: The result of students' speaking performance test that was taken in the Preliminary Survey on June 17, 2016. Therefore, the researcher tries the REPETITION DRILL technique to solve both of the above problems especially and to develop the speaking performance of to the students.

Problem Identification

Problem Limitation

Objective and Benefits of Research 1. Objective of the Research

  • Benefits of Research
  • The Definition of Speaking
  • Functions of Speaking
  • The Purposes of Speaking
  • Types of Classroom Speaking Perfo rmance
  • The Measurment of Speaking Performance
  • The Purpose of repetition drill
  • The Prosedure of repetition drill

As a result of student learning, students can participate more actively in class. On the other hand, Basturkmen said that speeches that serve this purpose tend to be long and involve some prior organization of content and the use of linguistic devices to signal either the organization or the type of information that will be given . B. The concept of speaking Performance 1. The definition of speech performance 1. The definition of speech performance 1. The definition of speech performance.

The advantages and disadvantages of Repetition Drill

The students can refer to their textbook, and follow-up reading, writing or vocabulary activities based on the dialogue can be introduced. Follow-up activities can take place in the language laboratory, where further dialogue and drilling is carried out. 20. The teacher must handle the exercises, so that the students are not overused and they do not go on for too long.

Based on the advantages above, the researcher will use this technique to find out the improvement of students' speaking performance by repetition practice technique or the first formulation and what factors will be affected by repetition practice technique or the second formulation. 22 International journal, Employing Drilling Technique in Teaching English Writing Skills to a Group of Rural Malaysian Students.(university malaysia sabah), p.76. 23 Syafryadin et al, "Improving Grade X Students’ Speaking Achievement under Round Robin Technique", (Bandung:English Language Education, School of Postgraduate Studies Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia), No. 1/April 2013, p.

Theoretical Framework and Paradigm a. The Theoretical Framework

In this research, the researcher uses repetition practice to teach speaking that focuses on the eighth grade of SMP MMT Kebun Dalam Mesuji. The researcher assumes that if the teacher uses repetition exercises in speaking lessons, the students will find it easier to participate actively in the class through group work. Based on the above theoretical framework, the researcher also describes the paradigm, which can be seen in the picture below.

Based on the above figure, it can be seen that the repetition exercise is good and the students' speaking performance is good, so there is a positive and significant impact of the use of repetition technique on the students' speaking performance. Conversely, if the repetition exercise is low and the students' speaking performance is bad, so there is no positive and significant impact of the repetition exercise on the students' speaking performance.

Hypothesis

  • Hypothesis Formulation
  • Statistical Hypothesis

There is a positive and significant impact of the use of the round technique on the speaking performance of students in the eighth grade of SMP MMT Kebun Dalam. There is no positive and significant influence of using the round technique on the speaking performance of students in the eighth grade of SMP MMT Kebun Dalam. A hypothesis can be stated in the null form, which is a statement that there is no relationship or no difference between or among variables.

This form of null hypothesis is a statistical hypothesis that is testable within the framework of probability theory. It is also a non-directional form of hypothesis”.27 This hypothesis is considered to be an assumption about a population parameter.

Research Design

Third, both groups will receive a post-test using the same instrument in the pre-test. Finally, it is possible to find the impact of using the repetition technique on the students' speaking performance. After the post-test, statistical analyzes are performed to determine whether the treatment affected the experimental group.

Population, Sample and Sampling Technique 1. Population

It can be concluded that sample is the small group of elements or individual part of population that is observed. Related to sample discussion, the sample of this research which is the students at the eight grades consisting of nine classes. The researcher took two classes at the eight grade of SMP MMT KEBUND DALAM as a sample.

So it can be concluded that VIII B students have lower ability than class VIII A. The researcher would use class VIII B consisting of 31 students as experimental class and class VIII A consisting of 30 students as control class. Sampling refers to the process of selecting individuals who would participate in a research study.34 In this research, the researcher would use a purposive group sampling technique as a sampling technique which is based on the previous knowledge of a population and the specific purpose of the research. .

Operational Definition of Variables

  • Independent Variables
  • Dependent Variable
  • Observation
  • Documentation

It will be administered to eleventh grade students of SMP MMT KEBUN DALAM. To measure students' speaking performance, the researcher gives a test in the form of students' explanation. Students are able to express and explore their basic knowledge and ideas through speaking.

The students can express themselves on the topic that the teacher has given. The pre-test conducted in the first pre-treatment meeting to know the ability of the students before doing the action research. The post-test conducted in the last meeting after doing treatments to find out if the treatment makes any contribution to the students' performance in class or if there is a significant difference between the scores of the experimental class and the control class .

Research Instrument

  • Instrument Blueprint

Arikunto explained that documentation is a method used to find data about things or variables in the form of notes, transcripts, books, newspapers, magazines, inscriptions, meeting minutes, agenda, etc. The researcher used this method to get the data. about the history of the school, the relationship of the teachers and official staff, the number of students and the organizational structures of SMP MMT KEBUN DALAM. The researcher compared the scores to measure if there is any significant influence between the use of repetition practice technique in relation to the students' speaking performance.

In this technique, the data is taken from the observation list about everything that will happen during the teaching-learning process that deals with the teacher's treatment of the students, which method the teacher uses and how the process worked.

Data Analysis Technique

  • Research Instrument
  • Research Data

Frequency distribution as a result of the pretest of the control class in the eighth grade of smp mmt kebun dalam. Therefore, it can be concluded that the students' performance in the pretest was unsatisfactory. Students' Post-Test Score. Hypothesis Testing

Authentic table of differences between the experimental and control classes in the eighth grade of SMP MMT Kebun Dalam. Preparation of the frequency distribution table of pre- and post-tests in the experimental class (VIII class a). Furthermore, after entering the above data into chi-square analysis, the researcher found that 21.92.

Interpretations

  • Interpretation of t observed
  • Interpretation of observed

After analyzing the data in hypothesis testing, the researcher found that the critical value of tobservedis4.484. It can be inferred that there is a positive and significant influence of repetition exercises in relation to the students' speaking performance in the 8th grade of SMP MMT kebun dalam. After considering the t-test table using df58, the researcher did not find it in t-table.

After analyzing the data in hypothesis testing, the researcher found that the critical value observed is 21.92. This means that there is a significant impact of using Repetiton Drill on students' speaking performance in eighth graders of SMP MMT Kebun Dalam. Therefore, the repetition exercise has a positive effect on the speaking performance of students in the eighth grade of smp mmt kebun dalam.

Limitations

Conclusion

In addition, Repetition Training can be a solution for the teacher to teach students in speaking performance, students more active in the learning process.

Suggestion
