IU McKinney Event Examines the

IU McKinney Program on Law and State Government Fellows Heather Kinser and Marcus McGhee shared their research on the problems and possible solutions regarding the school-to-prison pipeline during the PLSG Symposium on September 25. Titled “Rupturing the School-to-Prison Pipeline: State Government Efforts at Deletion Reform,” the daylong event featured scholars and practitioners who shared their expertise on the topic.

The New IU Health Law Scholars Program at IU McKinney

Being an IU Health Law Scholar is not only an incredible opportunity to learn and network, but it also greatly helps alleviate the financial burden of graduate school. “I now happily call Indiana home, even though most of my family lives across the United States, including Florida and Georgia,” she said. As of now, I would like to possibly do an administrative fellowship when I graduate, and later possibly work as a consultant in a hospital,” she said.

Sargent, a sophomore from Carmel, Indiana, is secretary of the IU McKinney Health Law Society, a legal clinic manager at the IU Student Outreach Clinic and an intern in the Office of Legal Affairs of the Indiana State Department of Health. After graduation, I plan to work in health policy analysis and development and in public health management,” she said. Although students in the inaugural class of IU Health Law Scholars must first complete their academic programs, they will be well positioned to embody the aspirations of the IU Health Law Scholars Program while advancing their personal academic and professional goals.

CENTER FOR INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY LAW AND INNOVATION

The Center's first luncheon speaker event for the fall 2015 semester took place on September 8 and was designed to introduce students and faculty. Professor Jeffrey Maine, pictured on the left with Professor Nguyen, is an expert in tax law. His research focuses on the intersection of federal taxation and intellectual property. Professor Maine, from the University of Maine School of Law, gave a talk with Professor Nguyen entitled “From Victoria's Secret to Apple: The Uses and Abuses of the Intellectual Property Holding Company.”

The core of the law school's excellence is a faculty of dedicated teachers and dedicated scholars. She also attended the annual meeting of the American Sociological Association in Chicago from August 22 to 25. George Edwards was elected (by the IU McKinney faculty in October 2015) as a member of the House of Representatives of the Association of American Law Schools (AALS) to represent the faculty of the IU McKinney School of Law for.

Jim White conducted an evaluation of the University of Mississippi Law School Program at the University of Cambridge in July. The theme of the 2015 Forum was The relationship between government and markets in the perspective of law. IU McKinney Dean Andy Klein served as vice chair of the planning committee for the 2015 conclave.

Bayh Annual Lecture Endowment to support an annual lecture at the law school in honor of the former U.S. Income from this gift is used to purchase art for display at the law school. Center for Law and Health in 2011 for general support of the Hall Center for Law and Health at the law school.

Kalsi, a retired Krieg DeVault senior counsel and longtime adjunct professor at the law school. The fund helps support the National Professional Responsibility Moot Court Competition hosted by the law school. Roesler, '82, and Stacey Whitmore-Roesler for supporting the efforts of the law school's Center for Intellectual Property Law and Innovation.

Linda graduated from the IU School of Arts and Sciences in 1971 and from the IU McKinney School of Law in 1974. Pence Scholarship, have helped countless IU McKinney Law students pursue a legal education. Linda is a member of the Law School Board of Visitors and co-chaired the IMPACT campaign.

The stories her father and grandfather told her about Professor Jegen confirm "that he is truly a man of wit with a great sense of humor," she said. Meghan told Professor Jegen that she was not the first "Walter" student he had taught, and said he was delighted with the news. Meghan's grandfather, Philip, was so gifted with tax law that he enrolled in New York University Law's Graduate Tax Program.
