Welcome Message

from General Chair and Technical Program Chair

Welcome to Inter-Noise 2020!

On behalf of the Organizing Committee of Inter-noise 2020 and Korean Society for Noise and Vibration Engineering, it is our great pleasure to extend our warmest welcome to all of you to the 49th International Congress and Exposition on Noise Control Engineering: Inter- Noise 2020.

Inter-noise 2020, which was initially scheduled for 23 - 26 August 2020, is held as an e- congress, considering the global spread of COVID-19, health warnings and travel disruption.

Even though the pandemic, more than 650 high-quality contributions can be found within the program, reflecting the congress theme “Advances in Noise and Vibration Control Technology”.

In 18 parallel sessions, scientists and practicing engineers alike will share their research in areas.

In addition to the presentation of technical papers, the e-congress includes a plenary on Progress in NVH Technology for Future Mobility, a plenary on A cognitive approach to urban soundscapes, and three keynotes under the topics on ‘Spatial Hearing and Virtual Auditory Display’, ‘Acoustic Black Hole’, and ‘Floor impact sound transmission and control’. Especially in the Inter-Noise 2020, organizing committee set dual speakers for each keynote lecture for the first time in order to make active participation and interest from participants.

As those responsible for the congress, we would like to thank all the authors and session organizers for their contributions to the Inter-Noise 2020 and for their efforts to make the program complete. We also would like to extend our gratitude to the colleagues of the supporting committees and the organizing team. Finally, we wish to express our sincere appreciation to the sponsoring and supporting companies, institutions, and associations.

It has been an honor for us to support global noise and vibration control activities. We sincerely hope all participants of the Inter-noise 2020 an interesting e-meeting, many fruitful discussions, and a pleasant experience.

Yours sincerely,

Semyung Wang General Chair of Inter-noise 2020

Jin Yong Jeon, Technical Program Chair of Inter-noise 2020

Welcome Message

from I-INCE President

Dear Colleagues,

Welcome to this most unusual INTER-NOISE. First, I want to pass along my most sincere gratitude on behalf of all of the participants of the congress to the Organizing Committee and the leadership of KSNVE. The crisis of the coronavirus pandemic and associated travel

restrictions forced a huge change in the congress. This created major changes to the program and demands for much more robust technical support. This effort was much more work than the organizers anticipated. It also created huge risks for the committee ranging from financial to technical to staffing. On behalf of all of the participants, I congratulate and thank the organizers for their success in turning the INTER-NOISE 2020 congress into an e-congress.

Also, a special thank you to the authors and presenters of the more that 600 papers and presentations in the program. Your willingness to utilize this new format and to provide the materials needed for the program are much appreciated. This congress will not be lacking in terms of the quality and scope of technical material. But, I am certainly looking forward to having the flexibility of managing my schedule to see all of the presentations and exhibitions I want to see.

As participants, I remind you to visit the exhibition. The vendors at the exhibition have put materials on the site for you to review and are available for your questions.

It is unfortunate that we won't see you in person in the vibrant city of Seoul. Like all of you, I was looking forward to visiting Seoul.

Enjoy INTER-NOISE 2020.

Sincerely,

Bob Bernhard

I-INCE President
