Gym Class Heroes to perform at Alfred's annual Hot Dog Day event 3/05/07
Alfred University will host a large-scale outdoor concert immediately following the annual spring charity festival, Hot Dog Day. The band Gym Class Heroes, a rising hip-hop/rock band, will headline the concert; music begins at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 21, in the parking lot of McLane Center.Two or three opening bands will perform first; Gym Class Heroes is expected to take the stage at approximately 9 p.m. The performance will include songs from their newest album, "As Cruel as School Children," which has scored in the top 100 on the Billboard charts and includes top 10 hit song "Cupid's Chokehold.""The concert is intended to make Hot Dog Day an even bigger spectacle. We expect our students to responsibly and enthusiastically embrace this show and help make this an annual tradition," said concert coordinator Lee Breck, a senior marketing major. The concert will be an alcohol-free event and food vendors will create a 'festival feel' within the concert. There will be a no-readmit policy so attendees will be encouraged to stay for the entire experience.Tickets go on sale Wednesday, March 21, at the Powell Campus Center, AU Bookstore, Alfred State College Student Life Office, and retail outlets to be announced shortly. A limit of one ticket can be purchased for $5 with Alfred University or Alfred State College student identification. Additional tickets and tickets for the general public can be purchased for $10.
