Camp Suffolk March the 14th 1863 I read your letter today Dated February the 26 and I was glad to hear from you once more Charles had a letter from home that said that litle Esther was sick
I was sorry to hear that you had trouble of that kinde I hope that she has got well I am well and hope that this will finde you all well you said that you had not had any answer from the Bible I got it and was well pleased with it for it was not damaged one mite I had written to you that I had got it some time ago. about the Cubard I think you done well to get bread stuff for it and you got as much as it was worth if you can let the sap bush to any honest man for two thirds that he can make that will leave one third to you it will be better than to depend on buying Sugar for if you hav to buy you will have to be without sugar the moste of the time for it is going to be all that we can doe to get bread for the famely if we have good luck and if we have [2]
the luck to not get any pay from uncle sam it will be more than we can doe for if bread stuff keeps raising it will take more than one man can earn to support the famely you said that you put my likeness in the case with yours I had thaught of telling you to try it and see if it was the right sise to goin the case with yours and then I thaught that it was of no use for I would not be lucky enough for that I am real glad that it was the right sise
March the 15 I will try to finish my letter we are having as cold weather here now as we have had any time this winter but it is not stormy. your letter was wrote February the 26 so you see it was sixteen days comeing through for I got it the 14th of March
you must forgive me for acuseing you of forgeting me I wrote as I did because I was anxious to hear from you and I
guess you have not got all of the letters that I have wrote to you by the way that you [3]
write, when you write again tell me how long this is a comeing through some of your letters has come through in three days tell me if you are going to have new milks cows this summer I have wrote to George and John and I get no answer from
either of them we have no incourgements of geting any pay verry soon tell your folks and my folks to write to me for it is a comfort to me to read their letters I like to hear from them all give my respects to all inquireing friends We have not had any march cince the Battle at the Desurted House I expect there will be a moove made from here of some kinde prety soon for they are shiping large forces in here now. we privets will not kno any thing about what the move is a going to be untill we are called on good by for this time write soon Daniel Hall
