The purpose of this research to find out and identify the types of speech errors and to determine the factors that cause speech errors by students of the English Education Department at IAIN Metro. The subjects of this research were 15 students of the 6th semester in the English Education Department at IAIN Metro. From observational data and in-depth interviews with respondents, researchers found that students majoring in English education experienced speech errors when speaking English.

Jenis kesalahan yang ditemukan adalah silent pause 25 kali, fill pause 55 kali, repetisi 16 kali, retraced false start 4 kali, salah false start 4 kali, koreksi 3 kali, gagap 1 kali, seru 2 kali, dan slip of the tongue 24 kali, dengan total 136 kesalahan bicara. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeteksi dan mengidentifikasi jenis-jenis kesalahan berbicara dan mengetahui faktor-faktor penyebab kesalahan berbicara pada mahasiswa Jurusan Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris di IAIN Metro. Dari data observasi dan wawancara mendalam dengan responden, peneliti menemukan bahwa mahasiswa Jurusan Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris mengalami kesalahan bicara dalam berbicara bahasa Inggris.

The researcher will use Clark and Clark theory to analyze and identify speech errors of English students. Through this research, the researcher will analyze and identify the types of students' speech errors. Based on the description above, the researcher wants to conduct a study titled "An Analysis of Speech Errors by English Students of English Education Department at IAIN Metro".

What types of speech errors do the students of English Education Department at IAIN Metro make. What factors cause speaking errors of students of English Education Department at IAIN Metro. The purpose of this study is to discover and identify the types of speech errors made by the students of English Education Department at IAIN Metro.

This study aims to find out the possible factors of speaking errors made by the students of English Education Department at IAIN Metro.

In Clark and Clark's definition, psycholinguistics is defined as the study of three mental processes, namely listening, speaking and the acquisition of these two skills. It is the process by which the listener takes in the speaker's sound and uses it to create a perception of what the speaker is saying. The second understanding refers to the actions to be taken after the first understanding.

Clark and Clark consider speech production to consist of two types of activities: planning and execution.12. This is because language comprehension is dependent on their ability to learn a language, and movement also helps listeners decipher the meaning of the speaker's language. Language production is the ability to express information so that a person can function as a speaker in a conversational exchange.14 Language production takes place in seeing someone's process of producing speech, from conceptualizing what someone will say to using it. of speech as a tool for interaction.

Language acquisition is acquired unconsciously from the first language to produce speech, very similar to the process children use to acquire first and second languages.

So in this process can be described as the interaction between the speaker and the listener can be achieved. Furthermore, the speaker must interact with the interlocutor, which may be in the form of answering questions, but the interaction is very limited. When the speaker has difficulty speaking, the speaker does so by removing the pause, not by shortening the word.

The speaker does not speak at all but remains silent to choose the right words to say in the next speech. Based on the research conducted by the researcher, the researcher collected the speaking errors of fifteen sixth semester students of English Education Department at IAIN Metro. Types of Speech Errors Made by Students of English Education Department at IAIN Metro. In this data, students have 2 silent pauses and 3 slips in their speaking errors.

The most common types of speaking errors of students of English Education department at IAIN Metro is filled pause. In fact, according to the results of observations and in-depth interviews, the students of the English Education Department at IAIN Metro had speaking errors in English. In this study, the researcher found that the students still have speech errors when speaking English.

Result of the Research

Discussion

The purpose of this research is to determine the types of speech errors encountered by students of the English Education Department at IAIN Metro and the factors that cause these speech errors. Based on the findings of the above data, from data 1 to data 15, conducted by the sixth semester students of English Education Department at IAIN Metro, the researcher found that many students have speech errors when speaking English. From the above results, the researcher also analyzed the factors that influence students in making speech errors.

Data show that 25% of students have cognitive problems in the factors that cause speech errors. The remaining 15% of factors that cause speech errors in students are due to social reasons. Speech errors occur due to certain factors so that students make speech errors when speaking English.

The types of speech errors made by sixth semester students of English Education Department at IAIN Metro based on Clark & ​​Clark's theory found 136 errors: namely Silent Pause 25 times, Filled Pause 55 times, Repeat 16 times, Retraced False Start 4 times, Unretraced False Starts 4 times, Correction 3 times, Stutters 1 time, Interjection 2 times and Slip of Tongue 24 times and the most common speech error made by students is filled pause. The factors that cause speech errors made by sixth semester students of English education department at IAIN Metro based on Clark & ​​Clark's theory are cognitive difficulties, anxiety and social reasons. And teachers can provide more solutions to students to minimize speech errors in speaking English.

And for the same approach, namely qualitative, so that more thorough and in-depth knowledge can be obtained about the factors that occur in students' speech errors. Maka dengan ini kami informasikan bahwa mahasiswa diatas akan melakukan penelitian/studi di PROGRAM STUDI IAIN METRO ENGLISH TADRIS, untuk menyelesaikan tugas akhir/skripsi dari mahasiswa yang bersangkutan yang berjudul “ANALISIS KESALAHAN BICARA OLEH MAHASISWA BAHASA INGGRIS JURUSAN PENDIDIKAN INGGRIS IAIN METRO”. Para mahasiswa tersebut di atas telah melakukan penelitian berjudul “ANALISIS KESALAHAN UCAPAN UCAPAN OLEH MAHASISWA BAHASA INGGRIS JURUSAN PENDIDIKAN BAHASA INGGRIS DI IAIN METRO” yang berlokasi di Jurusan Tadris Bahasa Inggris (TBI) IAIN Metro.

Then my family and I finally went to one of the beaches in Bengkulu and we ate together and took pictures. On the way we stopped at the supermarket to buy something and waited for the rest of the family. My memorable experience during Ramadan I sell pudding with friends to break the fast. On the first day of sales, many people came to my store because the shape of the pudding I sold was very attractive and had many flavors. I'm selling pudding until the end of Ramadan.

Faktor yang menyebabkan saya melakukan kesalahan saat berbicara bahasa Inggris adalah saya tidak mengerti tata bahasa dalam bahasa Inggris dan gugup saat berbicara bahasa Inggris. Ya, saya merasa cemas ketika berbicara bahasa Inggris di depan umum karena saya takut melakukan kesalahan dan ditertawakan banyak orang. Alasannya adalah saya memiliki kosa kata yang sedikit, jadi ketika saya berbicara bahasa Inggris, saya terjebak pada kata-kata itu dan membuat kesalahan, yang membuat saya sulit untuk berbicara dengan lancar.

Ya, saya merasa sulit berbicara bahasa Inggris di depan banyak orang, alasannya karena saya kurang percaya diri karena saya merasa kemampuan bahasa Inggris saya masih kurang. Ya, saya memang mengalami kesalahan karena saya sangat cemas ketika berbicara di depan banyak orang. Saya merasa sulit untuk berbicara di depan banyak orang karena saya tidak percaya diri dengan kemampuan bahasa Inggris saya.

Tentu saja saya merasa cemas ketika berbicara di depan banyak orang karena saya selalu berpikir bahwa mereka mengoreksi setiap kata yang saya ucapkan. Saya merasa ragu dan bimbang karena saya menyadari bahwa saya memiliki pengucapan yang salah. Mungkin kurangnya pengetahuan tentang cara membaca kata dalam bahasa Inggris yang baik dan benar.
